I found this forum thanks to a youtube channel named Michigan rocks. And for the past month i've been searching for rocks and minerals in the mountains and the beach. I'm from Chile a very particular country in the west coast of South America. We have a big chunk of the Andes mountain range and of course around 2000 miles of coast, and being such a thin country you can visit incredible valleys way up the mountains and be at the beach in the same day. I really want to purchase my first tumbler but the only one i have been able to find here is the National Geographic one, and from reviews that i've seen, it doesnt seem too great. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me build up a decent starter kit. I can buy things from Amazon but not everything sadly.
I'm looking forward to learn a lot from this lovely community!
Wish anyone that reads this a great day!!
Martin

Hey Martin! Welcome to the forum from South Dakota, USA! If you haven't found it yet, here's a link to some Do It Yourself projects that other people have put together. It might be a good place to look through to get some ideas if you're planning on your own build. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/page/diy-projectsEdited to add - And we LOVE seeing pictures...of projects, or rocks, or some scenic pictures of your rock hounding areas (especially this one since you're from a place most of us will never get to visit! )

Welcome Martin. We know Chile has lots of rocks and beautiful countryside in which to search for them. We welcome your participation and contributions as possible. Rock tumbling and lapidary activities often involve improvising and building your own equipment or modifying something built for something else. What kinds of rocks are you planning to work with?

Welcome from Virginia. If all you can get is the National Geo tumbler, have no fear- you can still get good use from it. Our member, Rob, made these for his youtube channel, MichiganRocks
