squidwar.tumblr.com/post/664410431318802432Hello all, I need some help. I have butterfingers and I broke one of my friend's geode coasters. I feel so bad because his grandma, who was an avid geode collector, had given it to him before she passed. Is there any way for me to fix it? Can I use super glue or resin? I attached the link to the photos of the coaster above. Thanks!

You might consider casting the whole thing in resin, and leaving a little space between pieces. That would be durable and somewhat creative! Or maybe there's a way to use a metallic looking binder to reunite the pieces and gild the perimeter. I don't think that you will have much luck fixing this in a way that hides the cracks. I wouldn't. Maybe someone else here can?

I had a large 24" round of dark color petrified wood repaired several years ago it was glued one crack at a time in a frame and the whole surface repolished on a flat lap thru all the grits. It took several weeks and it looks perfect. Sorry your loss but it would never be worth it for a coaster but it can be done if the breaks are clean and you have all the little pieces.

I would use 330 epoxy and use an adjustable screw band to tighten the pieces . Use small blocks in between the band and rock where needed so you have equal pressure on each segment. Repolish as suggested in prior post.

I use Epoxy 330 as well, fantastic stuff, but I don't think it will cut it with this piece. I like mud's thought of casting it in Epoxy resin, that would work and hold it all together nicely. The other way if you really want to go with gluing it is to glue the whole thing to some thin glass, glass like you get in picture frames would do. You could glue it between 2 pieces perhaps, just thinking out loud here.

If you can get it glued together putting some kind of solid backing on it before you polish would be a good idea.
