Does anyone else here enjoy carving Fordite?? It’s a blast and it’s a great way to visually watch how your dome works. With the banding.

One of these days I'll snag some to cab! I freaking love the looks of this material! I get it, that some people might not appreciate it since it's man-made...but I think it's SO cool! LOL
Oh...and whatever price you think about getting for this piece, it HAS to have an "8" in the price somewhere! LOL

That is some cool material! It's neat to see the Kenilworth material. It doesn't have the variety of colors as some of the other sources, but the metallic colors are eye-catching.

Brian; the Kenworth seems to be lighter and more chalky. Fun to work with for sure.

I have a little stuff that came from the Freightliner factory in Portland, I should dig it out. There was "surfite" from surfboards at the Wickenburg show last weekend, and a club member made bowlerite from old bowling balls.

I know Chuck Drummond Island Rocks has cut up his son's old bowling balls and cabbed them. I can't remember if he showed his process for doing it or not.

With fordite I have a bandsaw that works much better than diamond blade. I imagine a bowling ball could be cut similarly.

A bowling ball is a PITA to put it simply. Obviously a perfect circle isn't easy to clamp. I literally beat a divot in the yard trying to bust one apart with a sledgehammer. Neighbors had to be wondering WTF I was doing. I believe I resorted to an angle grinder to get chunks off then a horizontal band saw after that to cut slabs.
I have a few more bowling balls to cut up and also have surfite. Easy to work and a fun experiment once past "cracking the egg" LoL

That would probably work well. I do have a demo blade that I think is 12" or close for my sawzall, will need to try that when I decide to cut them
