I was going through photos of my youngest daughters TaeKwon-Do belt testing from two weeks ago and thought I would share some here. Charlotte is 10 years old and while I stress to all of the kids that they will never be able to take on the old man I worry about her the most. She has been taking lessons for a bit over a year now and switched to a different school in the Fall as she wanted a more serious program. Unfortunately she suffered a setback when she had the back of her heel sliced open in a freak accident at home resulting in stitches and being on crutches. It took a while to heal and to start walking again, this was her first tournament post-injury. Being evaluated on her "Forms" (techniques):   No-Contact Sparring:  Floating:   Full-Contact Sparring: Some good sportsmanship.  Char was not happy about this one but it did "wake her up"  Char sees her opening:    Damn photographer (me) got everything except the exact moment of impact. Breaking boards:    Her instructor had her double up on boards because she has a strong kick, pressure was on as she was not expecting this. Al, thanks for sharing those pictures! It made me smile to see her doing so well in a fantastic discipline. Good to see the foot injury wasn't too long term...it probably was "forever" for her!  |

Thanks for sharing! She looks like she really enjoys this discipline. She looks very confident... and like she's having a good time. She reeeallly likes it and that is what is most important. She is very happy at this place as it is more disciplined. She would occasionally get frustrated at the other place as the instructors did not have very good command of the class. Honestly, as the one paying for it, I appreciate it as well. |

You should have seen her when I told her she would have to stay on crutches another week. We took her to the doctor to get her wound evaluated and she was expecting to get off of them that day. After they saw her I hung back in the room and they told me she needed at least another week. Knowing how this news would be received I waited until we got home to tell her. Well she lived up to her nickname of "Hot Sauce". |

Great photos and descriptions. No one better mess around with her. I think big brother (A.J.) is going to have to learn the hard way. Some day, probably not that far off, his size advantage will not be enough. Nothing serious, just typical sibling stuff. |
