Awesome group of cabs. I agree with hummingbirdstones on the first one. That one deserves a proper setting. I have wrapped dozens of bots but when I come across the really good ones they get a nice simple but elegant sterling setting. Something like this with the back cut out behind the druzy area would be fitting. A more talented smith may even be able to work some details into the bezel to accent the druzy. As someone else mentioned I also have never seen a citrine pocket in any of my bots and I have worked a ton of that material between tumbles and cabs Chuck

Thanks Perk! I'm finishing them with the 3000 wheel, then straight over to the cerium impregnated finishing disk that's on the right side of the arbor - which came with the machine. I'm so used to spending a lot of time with each stage on the flat lap, I'm still spending a lot of time on each wheel before I even check it...so I don't know if that's adding to the overall finish or not. When I read "I'm finishing them with the 3000 wheel" I think I gasped out loud think I must be doing something wrong! 😂 I have a cerium belt but it doesn't fit my drum. Maybe I'll have to get a new one. It definitely wouldn't hurt Perk! Awesome group of cabs. I agree with hummingbirdstones on the first one. That one deserves a proper setting. Wait...are you volunteering to set this? (Teasing! ) Your pic really is a gorgeous example of how a "simple" setting can make a stone look elegant! The more people are talking about this citrine druzy, the more giddy I'm getting about it. I need to look to see if I have the other part of it somewhere!

Holy mackerel jasoninsd. They’re all gorgeous. That druzy one though, I’ve never seen anything like that! It’s museum worthy.

All very nice, but the first is one of your best cabs to date. Same with 3 and 4.
Way to take advantage of those new wheels and plow through a bunch of hard agates! Your 1200 and 3000 Nova wheels are probably starting to break in which makes them more pleasant to use.
I assume you did #1 without a dop?
Still using the cerium polishing disc? If so, does it look like it is going to last a while? I will buy one once you or Rob confirm durability.

Those are all very nice, but the first may be one of your best cabs yet. I might say the same about numbers 3 and 4, actually. Way to take advantage of those new wheels and plow through a bunch of hard agates! Your 1200 and 3000 Nova wheels are probably starting to break in a little while makes them more pleasant to use. I remember this being a little stiff when new and taking about 20-30 cabs to settle down. Still using the included cerium charged polishing disc? If so, does it look like that is something that is going to hold up for a while? I am thinking about trying one, but only if it lasts for a while. Thanks Jonathan! I figured the best way to get the wheels in shape was to go with a bunch of agates. I worked some Laguna Lace cabs last night. They polished up nicely, but it's the rough from JH Kalmore and is fractured all to hell. I had like 15 dopped, cabbed 6 of them and just stopped. The rest of them didn't seem to be worth the effort. I am using the precharged cerium pad. I have NO clue as to the longevity of this thing...nor how long the cerium is going to still seem effective. I was wondering that same exact question last night. I don't see why it wouldn't last for quite awhile. It's used with water, so it's lubricated as it's being used...so unless it's "abused", I would like to think the disk itself will last quite awhile, but whether the cerium remains effective, only time will tell.

Did you do the first one topless dopless?

Did you do the first one topless dopless? Topless, but not dopless!

Beautiful! All of them. I keep staring the girdle lines of your cabs. I've been cabing for decades and my girdles aren't that good. I will be watching to see what you do with that first one.

Beyond the beauty of the agate and the shine, your cabs have a very crisp edge between the dome and the side. What a precisse work!

Thanks Garry! My wife took a picture of me cabbing...and sent it to her sister...who laughed about it because when I'm cabbing I wear reading glasses, an optivisor, and look through a magnifying lamp. I don't have the optivisor down unless I'm looking for scratches. However, I do all the grinding while looking through the magnifying light. I feel it helps me be a bit more precise in areas like the girdle line. It might be awhile before I do anything with that first Bot...I think everyone's kind of convinced me it needs a setting rather than a wire-wrap...which means I have to learn something new...sometime! LOL Beyond the beauty of the agate and the shine, your cabs have a very crisp edge between the dome and the side. What a precisse work! Adrian Thank you so much Adrian! I really do think what I was describing to Garry is what allows for the precision. That and a very light touch around the girdle...I actually find that to be one of the most fun parts to doing the cab.

Dude. Just awesome. What machine did you get? Thank you so much! I ended up getting the Kingsley North Cabber 6 Nova. Since this is my first cabbing machine, I have no others to compare it with...but I can't imagine I'd like a different 6" machine better than this one. I can't fathom working cabs with the wheel spacing on other machines. I think this has the biggest spacing for production machines... I know other people do it just fine...but I'm not them! LOL
