Today we made a "quick" run out to Richardsons Rock Ranch and picked up a few bits. Met a rock club field trip group from Idaho and visited. Serape jasper, found some with a little lace in them. Swazi Agate, little 1 cab wonder nodules

This was technically found yesterday. As some of you know Rockoonz is in my area for the rockhound pow wow, so we met up and made a trip out to do some hounding for Paulina Pink Limbcasts. Took him back into one of my prized spots thats an absolute honey hole. Here was a nice chunk my dad and Lee spotted about the same time. Was pleasantly surprised when I put a cut on it. I'm sure when Lee gets his finds cleaned up he'll post them as well. Was a very productive day and had a great time having him out with me. Man! That is one hell of a hell of a find!!

It’s a nice chunk for sure. Lee has some really nice ones as well. I think one of the ones he collected will turn out to have some nice moss in it. He also had found a couple nice orange limbs and a carnelian limb. The orange was the first time I ever saw that color. I think by the time we packed up he went home with 30+ pounds of limbcast 😂. If he’s back next year, I’m hoping to get both him and his wife out there. Hopefully the weather will cooperate a lil better and not be snowing.

I don't have a picture...but this is what I found today:
I had some older customers (in their 80s) come in yesterday and while talking with them I could tell "he" was a bit standoffish. After we found an item which might work for them, I set up a time to go out to their house to measure the room they needed done. While talking, I had mentioned something about rocks...and when we were talking about me going to his house today, he said he'd show me his petrified wood and I could tell he'd warmed up to me a little.
I went to their house...got a measurement, and Vern asked if I wanted to see his rocks. I said, HECK YEAH! We spent a good 15-20 minutes going around his yard and him pointing out his self-collected petrified wood pieces. We got around to his covered deck, and he wanted to show me his "prized pieces". I started looking and started naming what the stones were: Crazy Lace, Botswana Agate, Brazilian Agate, Amethyst, Septarian Nodule...and then I saw this little Teepee Canyon Agate nodule. I told him what it was and where it came from. I told him how I'd been out there numerous times and had collected a bunch. I told him I made pendants with my finds...and he wanted to see pictures. I showed him some pictures of some Teepee Canyon cabs and wraps I'd done...and he was SO excited!!
I had to get back to the store...but I could tell how excited he had been to show me his rocks...and how it warmed his heart at how excited I had been while looking at them. I really think this "made his day"!
Their going to stop back into the store tomorrow...so I came home tonight and picked out a "decent" Teepee Canyon Agate slab which I'm going to give to him tomorrow. I think he will be over the moon when I hand it to him. I know he misses going out and hounding his own stuff...so I'm hoping the slab will bring back some good memories for him...

jasoninsd . It will also bring up the memory of his nice time with you… 😀 Pat, I could see it in his eyes when we were talking...he hadn't been able to talk "rocks" with anyone for a long time...so it made my heart smile to see the sparkle in his eyes while we were talking.

Jason Finding a rock lover is almost as good as finding a new rock site. I work/volunteer in a thrift store and occasionally carry a rock in my pocket to share with someone who happens to show an interest in our conversations about rocks. Since I make money clips from my tumbled rocks, I always have a few that are up for sharing with the right person. As John Prine would say "Hello in there".

I want to know what that Oregon moss/plume is I'll know more when I cut them. One looks to maybe be polkadot, mentioned it to Arlene and she said just stick it in the basket and don't say anything.

So I also picked this up this weekend from a little creek. I saw the stripes and the patterns reminded me of a another I found in Lake MI I'm sitting here checking it out again and I see a faint hint of color on the corner that I didn't notice before. Stripe side, can't even tell if it runs all the way thru Pretty unassuming on the backside And what is this??? What do I do with this mystery? Looks more like silica than chatoyancy to my untrained eye Also learned the best lighting I have is under a stove light so I'm assuming future pictures will come standard with a stove clock and local standard time lol

It looks darn near a prarie agate and not much more, hope it tumbles well. It's hard to capture it, but this stone has an oil slick like sheen, kind of like moonstone. I'm excited to see what happens This should be a winner, nice tight pattern on all sides.
