We got a new HR director at work. Part of her "training" was to get to know us all better, so we had these mini "meet and greets" blah blah blah. SO when my turn comes I'm in with a group of people I barely know (except for one lady who used to work in my line). I give the typical this is me blah blah and mention at the end that I do a lot of Lapidary work. Well one guy chimes up and says "hey you ever see that Michigan Rocks guy on YouTube?" Well of course I have watched him for years, as well as discussed things with him here (Jugglerguy). We leave the meeting and are out on the production floor discussing Michigan Rocks when he offers up that his Brother In Law inherited a collection of "rock stuff" when his dad died. I guess they sold all the equipment at an auction (this was back in the 80's) but that they kept the rocks cause they were so pretty. Long and short of it is now his BIL wants to downsize and had asked my co-worker if he was interested in a couple tons of rock. My co-worker asked me if I would be interested in 'picking" thru the stuff and keeping whatever was good? SO this summer we are taking a trip to pick up some rocks (He is about an hour away from where I live). All I have to do is slab a couple things up for him (he has a couple slabs his BIL gave him from the collection and he wants a few more) I told him it seemed like a fair trade lol.

Make him an offer on the whole pile!
You can always sell off what you don't want.

I hate it when people at work learn I like rocks and suggest the Michigan Rocks Youtube channel. LOL I loved the original story but I actually laughed out loud at your comment, Greig. stephan, the owner of a furniture store was delivering a chair to our house a few years back and heard my slab saw running in the open garage. We started talking about rocks and he told me that he had a trim saw from when he used to be into rock stuff. He asked if I wanted it. It's now my favorite trim saw by far. It pays to mention to people that you do lapidary work!
