Welcome to the forum.
Southern California has a lot of great stuff. I suggest taking a little trip up to Afton Canyon, The hill by Dunn (North side of I-15), that little hill off of Harvard Road (North side of I-15), the first hill along the gas line road off of Minneola Road (North side of I-15) or around Ludlow or check the rocky beaches such as up by Carlsbad.

Milt welcome from Riverside County. Vista has a nice club as does Fallbrook. Field trip season is almost over in So Cal since so many of the trips are in the desert area. There are several videos of the pay digs at the Oceanview mine by Pala. Haven’t done it yet bUt it looks like fun. There are also accessible mine dumps to the east off the 8 for star quartz, rose quartz, and possible garnets and feldspar. The areas around Pala, Mesa Grande, and Ramona have a rich mining history; lots of info online about them. Julian is also cool, the gold mine tour is very fun and affordable.

Welcome from Charles Town WV. Greetings and felicitations from Charles Town WV. (Think abolitionist John Brown's pre-Civil War raid.)
Sorry, but I can't personally recommend any hounding sites for you...
However, you've certainly come to the right place! This forum by is a remarkable resource and the folks here are very knowledgeable. There are a lot of members who are in the SoCal and AZ areas, so I wouldn't be too surprised if you get some good hounding site recommendations!

Just got my 8 year old grandson a National Geographic tumbler for his birthday. He likes rocks so we'll see where this goes. Anyone have recommendations for places to collect rocks in San Diego County, CA? Hey there, welcome to the forum! I'm a Washington resident, but I visited San Diego for two weeks this summer, and I created a thread on some finds there, and locations I visited. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/96139/more-beach-agates Torrey Pines State Reserve is an awesome place to hound. Look down by the water and up near the beach wall for the best finds. There are some fossils in the sandstone cliffs as well. It's a beautiful place to swim/boogie board and enjoy the beach as well. I've tumbled a lot of my finds there with great success.
