realrockhound - Nice entry my friend!! For anyone who hasn't worked Batcave Jasper...its' a VERY difficult material to work in my opinion. The hardness varies so dramatically between the lighter parts (really soft!) to the dark brown areas (really hard!). I've experienced the same "chippy" issues with both Batcave and Royal Imperial Jasper.

All great entries so far. Looking forward to seeing who'll come out the winner. I doubt I'll get a chance to make one for this contest but it's still fun looking at all the entries.

Sorry to break it to you,

Thanks Patty. Ummm...you didn't "break it to me"...I thought I was pretty clear in my post that this dang cab didn't meet the measurement requirements. Apparently it had too many doughnuts over the last week! LOL

Blue Moon
OK, Here's my entry for this months "Narrow shape" contest.
I thought what would be a good shape for a skinny cab & it came to me , a crescent moon.
But I didn't know what to make it from.
Then dragging out my slab bins, low & behold, I found I had something that really looked like the surface of the moon. Blue Furnace Slag.
The thing with slag is that when you start grinding it, you never know what you are going to get, various bubbles open up, etc.
And that's what happened grinding the inside curve- a big one opened up.
But I decided it belonged, as it's a moon, & moons have craters.
So here it is-
Blue Moon complete with lunar craters.
Size - 2 1/4" X 1/2" ( 4.5 - 1 ratio)
Thanks for looking,
Patty

Great entries and there is still time. If I make one, my video title will be fat fingers...thin cab. Not sure it will attract views but it would be fun

liveoak - Patty, that cab is spectacular! I actually love the fact it had the "craters" develop...that really makes it look absolutely stunning! victor1941 - Victor, that one visually seems like a super long cab! Great job!
