I have a thumlers A R1 and like many others, have a issue with a hole wearing out in the center. I'm wondering if there is a different brand barrel that will fit the tumbler? Maybe one with a lid held on with a nut? I really like how the lids on my chicago electric work.
If not, any way to fix up a new lid so it lasts more than a couple months?

I have glued a quarter over the hole in a pinch. Still have it somewhere.

I have a chunk of rubber glued on for now but the lid will need replaced soon, would really like a fix to prevent such quick wear. Its such a bad design, a lid shouldn't fail in 2 months.

Drill the lid out with a holesaw then put a test plug in it or remove the cap and use a test plug if you can find one to fit I use the plastic test plugs with PVC barrels

I just crazy glue a thick (1/8") acrylic disk on the lid. I usually get several years of use this way. I have glued progressively smaller disks as they wear out, but replacement lids are not that expensive.

I ended up buying a acrylic lid for it, advertised as being twice as strong as the original. We'll see how it holds up
