Looked for a UV-18 for a couple of years and everyone was sold out and could not even find a used one. Finally picked up a new one I found at the last booth I went to. Then these were posted on here being sold on Ebay. Rather dirty and rough looking but I figured still cheaper than even buying one replacement bowl, so I figured parts if they did not work. Was out of town 3 weeks so just got them cleaned up and checked and sure enough they both run fine. One is missing a spring so I have a couple new springs on order. And want to get some wing nuts for the top. Still very happy with the purchase. Forgot who originally posted these, but thank you.

What is your intended need fulfillment or potential need fulfillment with them baby's. Acquiring equipment and gear really jazzes me up.

I like to mainly use my tumblers to clean up rocks and soften sharp edges. Some of the rocks still get a polish though even without any grit or polish, just not an ultra high gloss, which I am not that fond of anyway. For example, these are chalcedonies cleaned up this way. Just found a bowl of ones I was working on in an old vibe. Going to put them in the new vibe and let them run for a while.
And sunset jasper I did this way:
And some rhyolite done this way:
Will probably run a lot of these again since these are bigger tumblers and therefore will work faster.

I guess the person added shipping a few days after first listed, I went back excited, but you must have already bought them! Ah well, if you ever figure two is three are too much let me know. Glad to hear they were in as good shape as I figured they were.

Good score on the UV-18's. I've cleaned some rocks exactly the way you are doing, with no grit or polish. I have also had good results lightly polishing a few agates for about a day or two in pre-polish and polish mixed together.

Congrats on the finds. Once we're back home I want to dig out the 2 UV-10's. The center post that holds the barrel on broke out of the base on one of them so some repairs will be in order. Maybe I'll also try the Lot-o-vibe one more time.

I was just getting read to head to Reno to take care of my dad for a while. So I did not have time to get down to California. So, I was trying to think of who I knew down that way, and my friend Ricardo lives fairly close. I was going to ask him to pick them up for me and went to check what town specifically they were in and I saw he added shipping. So I jumped on them really quick and had them shipped to my mom's house since I was going to be gone a while. Definitely needed a good cleaning. Took a couple of hours, but the barrels are in great shape.

Good you could see through the rock snot... Not like I really *need* another tumbler, but enjoy trying different machines out.

Looks like they clean up nicely in your washing machines.
