I like the lacy area at the top.
I'd wear them for earrings

Marked a rough shape on a slab of chrysoprase and then sawed it through the middle to get a pair of preforms. I chose a hexagonal shield shape, a favorite of mine...

Absolutely beautifully shaped & colored material.
My question is how did you slice them apart ??
What kind of saw ??

Thank you, Patty. I use the Ameritool Trim Saw with a thin 5" notched diamond blade. With some practice, it is possible to hold (very) small slabs or preforms with your hands and slowly slice them with this saw and blade. It takes steady hands. usually rotation as you work towards the center, and a light touch. The blade is in charge.

Certainly sounds like you've done this before Gary, opalpyrexia . Obviously a steady hand & experience there ! Nicely done. Patty

4 hours to go? That makes me early, right? This morning I didn't have a material or slab in mind. The slabs came off the saw while I was in the shop building a cart for one of the saws in storage. Rocky Butte I got up north. The cabs came from the 2 on the left, 3rd one will be the focal pendant to go with them, but it wasn't happening today. So now it's late afternoon and I have 2 cabs to make, what to do? Yep, double stick tape ain't just for dopping. The Preforms The cabs. I think the first might be better for the judging pic, but whatever you think Tommy. Side view

Barely made it....not my first choice but just couldn't get good photos on other material. This is fossil coral generously gifted by fencejumper. Good luck all!

Excellent idea Rockoonz Lee ! Dang why didn’t I ever think of that w/ heart halves ? Calibration simplified... Rockoonz Does that idea work for yin/yang? Once they’re sliced Does reversing them make them a pair ?

mohs you should be able to more easily do your ying/yang, but the radiuses would still have to match each other, tough no matter how you slice it...

Nice job everyone! I can't wait to see how the votes go. Whatever way they do go doesn't matter because everyone did a great job.

Thank you everyone for another very successful contest - 12 beautiful entries definitely exceeded my expectations for such a specialized theme.
The contest is officially closed and the voting poll will be posted shortly.
