Honestly I was also afraid there wouldn't be many entries & BOY was I wrong.

Tommy liveoak I appreciate the challenge, Elizabeth is a veteran earring maker but I am pretty sure this was my first matched set, I usually just pair off the slabs out of the saw for her. Since our shop has AC it's a fine retreat. My fingers fared surprisingly well since I went dopless on these.

I'd go with Elizabeth, Lee, Rockoonz, I'm an earring person, both to make & wear. This is also my first matched set & I feel much better about trying them in the future now. But I'll stick with my little dop sticks ! Patty |

@msali parfiveTommyI deleted my Jeepite entry when I realized it didn't meet the entry requirements for the July contest. It can hardly considered a rock cabochon! My bad The rock requirement for August seems to have been dropped so maybe I will try again😁 |

I thought they were a spectacular matched set, and very worthy to use as earrings, as they were so light ( and colorful)
But I have to say I think you over thought it, no where in the contest rules was it said anything about it having to be a "rock" . I quote below:
"Contestants are asked to create a matched pair of cabs, suitable for use as EARRINGS.
As far as size goes there is no exact numbers, but ask any woman and she will tell you that earrings need to be as lightweight as possible, so the size needs to be kept small. Any shape is OK except for round because circles are too easily created with mechanical means devices."
I wish you had entered it & I hope you will step up to this months challenge.
It should be easy peasy for someone with your skills.
