This is the grinder I picked up at the sale a couple of weeks ago. When I purchased it he had it mounted to a tabletop that he was keeping with the motor screwed to the tabletop behind it. I went ahead and braved the heat and welded together a quick stand yesterday. I still have to paint it but I wanted to make sure I didn't need to do modifications first. Had an issue right off the bat. It just seemed to be throwing a lot of water in my face. Took me way too long to realize it was spinning backwards. I guess the motor I got has an issue. It says right on the label that it's clockwise from the shaft end and it's spinning. Counterclockwise. I had another motor I grabbed and installed. Works pretty good. The hard wheels are pretty worn. I got a brand new crosshatched 80 grit with it. I just have to put it on. I think I'll also order a new 280 soft wheel. The other soft wheels seem decent. I've never heard of hillquist but it's a pretty well put together machine. Thick fiberglass on the housing. I plan on moving the wheels around a little bit after a while which will mean I'll have to redo the water feed which is all kind of weird. Anyway, with the drip parts. It's got a big factory made spacer between the two hard wheels. I guess that's why he crowded those other three together like that. I may just use geysers with the way the pans are on the bottom then I don't have to worry about the water feed at all.
It's weird how far the color is off taking these pictures in the sun. It looks just like the Chevy /fender vintage seafoam green color. The ends of the shrouds in the second two pictures are pretty close to the actual color. Don't care too much about the color of my lapidary machinery, but this is kind of cool and distinctive looking. Their slab saws look the same way.
