I'm most interested in making cabs. For over 15 years, I would make cabs and put them in a Riker box and when one box filled up I would start on another. Six years ago, I had health issues and couldn't grind so I decided to sort the boxes into like material. I then went back to my store unsorted. When I started listing cabs, I could usually find them as sorted or recently made when they sold. Recently, I've had to spend a stupid amount of time finding items that were sold. With a few exceptions I could. I decided it would be better to spend the time sorting than searching. I have about 50 Riker boxes of stuff that I could list and another 20 that I don't plan to. I deactivated 5 listings in the morning for ones that I couldn't find, found them and reactivated. I still have 4 left that are inactivated and I can't find. Probably on the floor somewhere. I also found a lot of stuff that I could list and now I know where they are. It takes me a lot of time to stay on top of things.

What if you numbered each box and also listed that number on the for sale listing of the cab? So if you listed an amethyst cab the description could say amethyst cab (box 2). The (box 2) would be for your reference and not the customer but at least you would know exactly what box the cab was in and could go right to it. Does that make sense? Not sure if you were asking for advice, if not just ignore me lol, just wanted to be helpful.

If I had that kind of inventory I think I would number the boxes, and go with box-row-column as a item number and also tag the back of the cab with the number to be sure.

I hate bookkeeping! But it is helpful when it’s done. Sigh!

I would number the boxes and assign letters to the cabs. So, there might be Pet Wood Cab, Item 6c, etc.

I have a good eye for finding a cab. I just need to get to a box. I sorted the Morrisonites into 3 boxes, listed, to be listed and probably not listed. This is one that I could list cabs from as needed to replace listed inventory. It has about 30 cabs and the other one about 50. The boxes are stacked and get moved around, so I am happy when nothing falls out. I can't expect them to stay lined up. These were made some time ago for me when I wasn't selling. Selling cabs is very competitive so I list my best and those recently created. Morrisonite is too expensive now and I'm lucky to find material to make cabs as nice as these.
