That pendant came out phenomenally creative! Gorgeous! That RIJ is to die for...figuratively!

Very cool! Good thing you hung in there- you've finished a really unique piece.

I think it turned out awesome even though it gave you fits. We've all had projects like that, I'm sure (at least I have). So tell me, how did you get that texture on the front of the wing? Casting? It's awesome.

hummingbirdstones I burned a board until the surface started to crack, then I piled up a bunch of silver scraps and torched them to the point they started to melt, then I pressed the metal into the board with a metal block. Here’s the board and pattern, some of the charred areas have fallen apart since the initial use. Very cool process!

hummingbirdstones I’d be happy to provide some insights when you decide to give it a try. It’s pretty basic, but I might be able to explain it so that you get good results on the first attempt. Thanks! I'll be sure to do that. I have a few pounds of scrap silver that I've been hoarding for years.

Bravura Cabochon Designs Slick idea for texturing silver. I'll file that in my bag of tricks. Very nice pendant. Can you refresh my memory on Covelo Jade? I read about it years ago but have forgotten everything I "knew" about it.

I read about it years ago but have forgotten everything I "knew" about it. Thanks! Covelo jade was mined in northeastern Mendocino county, there were a handful of claims on leech lake mountain before they got shut down when the area was designated a wilderness area. It was thought to be jadeite initially, but it’s actually a mix of diopside and nephrite. It can be found in the gravels of the Eel River. Similar stone is found in New Zealand, they call it rodingite because the source over there is mainly in the Roding river. Good info, thanks.
