Im just starting to use my new 12” flat lap, I have magnetic backed Eastwind resin discs. This is the 1200. I’ve used it for ~3 pieces. I see what looks like fabric “lines” maybe? But the resin seems very thin. Perhaps (hopefully) that is normal in appearance after being broken in? I’ve not used resin based abrasives much before this year so I don’t have a good reference. imgur.com/gallery/gaTqFI4Thanks for the help Edit: the 600/1200 only were used on one peice. It has multiple facets, but this one block of meta Unakite seems to have destroyed the 1200 and nearly killed the 600. From this peice: imgur.com/gallery/viY52ct

That looks normal to me for an Eastwind disc. We have 6" ones that we use and they look like that after some use. It still has lots of life in it.

Its certainly helpful to know you've used them and know. That's as good of a reference as I could hope for. I'm really surprised - and maybe having a hard time believing something isnt wrong with them, even though I want to believe . It feels like all of the resin nearly rubbed right off of the 1200 entirely, and the 600 is worn down to a super silky smooth surface, too. I dont have a lot of experience with resin based abrasives other than the nova wheels I've been using for a year or so, so I dont have a lot of experience. But the Nova resin definitely seems more durable. I'd love to know that they still have a lot of life in them - that would make me feel a whole lot better! It just seems hard to believe that they are as worn down as they would be expected to after one piece.

They have a silky feel to them almost. Perfectly normal.

Great, thank you. That context is really helpful. I did reach out to them too, they've been great to work with.
