Same as always - Found in Southern WI... Size is ~5"x4"x3" Never seen this as the contrast between the two materials is odd.

Try a few drops of HCL on the light colored area to check for Carbonate minerals. The Orange sections are most likely Chert (Iron stained).
These nodules do look bizarre at times..

I find these often. With and without the softer, lighter areas. Sometimes they contain aquatic fossils. Some have a coral like structure in places. Occasional agate like banding. Druzy at times.
I think they are cool.
