After heading over to Whidbey Island to visit a local arts show, we drove down south to Possession Point and did a little beachcombing. That's where I found this old fella looking up at me: Barnacle Bill Basalt.
I could see right away that he's a rockhound given that he was carrying some of his prized possessions dangling in his rather unkempt beard. We chatted a bit and then I helped him over to a nice warm place to sit on a driftwood log, knowing that some kids would soon come by to say hello and maybe take him home.

There's a very knowledgable old former production cutter on Whidbey Island. He makes a lot of beads now - in addition to some other types of hobbies now.
If you already know the guy I'm talking about, you know what I mean. He's been a long-time member of another forum.
