My cousin has had a couple of rather large pieces of Petrified wood in her flower garden for 30 or 40 years and she wanted to see what it looked like so she bought up the smaller piece, actually her husband and his brother, and we put it on the dold drag saw and made a few cuts. This is esthe heel cut! 24 inches wide and about 9 1/2 tall. No idea of what kind of wood it was or where it came from originally. Her husband was working on a construction site and they wer landscape rocks that wee no longer wanted.

This what I believe to be a nice piece of Sycamore. Found it when we were in central Oregon a few weeks ago. I will make a cut off the left end and polish. May have to bleach it. This material is pretty dark.
Saturday is almost finished so I better intervene. This is a Hubbard Basin piece I'm using for a doorstop. I also shared it in another thread so hope I'm not being too redundant.
I have now seen it all!!! Hubbard BAsin wood used as a doorstop! Nice
A couple more RR eggs I got cut, lower one blue bed, not sure about upper, but probably pony butte bed. I got to quit cutting and do some sanding and polishing. I am getting behind!!
woodman - I need to give Richardson's Ranch a call and see about getting a large flat rate box of plume or moss sent. I can't wait to see your new treasures once they're cut!
Fossilman - Thanks Mike! Here's a couple more Cold Mountain Thunderegg cabs I did earlier this week. The first one has a fracture going across the middle, but I thought the pattern looked too good to let it go...and it held together...so I finished it.
I bought some moss bed eggs, all they had was fairly small but will see what i get when I start cutting it! You never know!

rocknrob: That had better be a good sandwich for that price, otherwise you're better off making one yourself.

rocknrob: There was a shop in Portland, don't know if it's still there called Kenny and Zukes who made the absolute best pastrami sandwiches I have ever had. The problem is every restaurant thinks their sandwich is worth $20 now and seldom makes the grade.

rocknrob: So, to end my thread on sandwiches. If you find your sandwich worthy of that price by all means keep going to that restaurant
