FYI the worldofjaspers dot com root website seems like it is hacked or something, at least from my phone I get redirected to a spam site. Better to google world of jaspers + name of rock and go direct to the section you want. I submitted an order for the book, made payment with paypal, but the payment from paypal was never accepted so I cancelled it this morning. Have no idea what the problem is.

That is what I was thinking also but not really familiar with the material. I may have gotten a chunk of it at the hollywood ranch rock sale.

Yep, and it's beautiful. Did you slice it off a chuck or acquire it solo? Memory fails me, but I did take a couple slices off if it. now to find the piece I cut them off of. My shop is a mess!

I polished this slab today but I do not have a clue what it is. All I know is that it is very hard. 4 inches wide.

I said I would send the slab I posted a photo of to the winner of the contest. This morning I was starting to pack it and I find that I will need to include a few other pieces to fill the box. I will not say or post photos of those pieces, but the winner will not be disappointed. Get your entries in!

This looks fun! Great cab selections everyone. Hope no one minds that I did this on my phone. It would be rectangular with rounded edges. Looks like a photo taken from the Hubble telescope

This outer skin is often present on these guys. After a long time I've tentatively concluded it's the outer surface of the algea stuck on casts of stumps and logs. Anyone know for sure? I would have to say you are the expert on this material!
