Apr 23, 2007 at 7:33pm The Beginning of a great adventure! Good to meet you!! I just found this forum a couple days ago while I was looking for some answers, what a cool place!! I used to collect rocks when I was a kid and hadnt done any collecting for quite a few years. Last year I broke my leg and couldnt work for 7 months so I was looking for something to keep me occupied. I bought one of those little cheap tumblers on ebay and started tumbling a few rocks I had laying around. Then I got another, then another, Now I have 9 tumblers running full time. My wife and I now go out one day every weekend and play in the dirt looking for more rocks, what fun!! I should have gotten pictures of me with a bucket tied to my crutches out in the desert, but I wasnt thinking about that then. Looking forward to learning from you guys. Seem like a great bunch of people............Tony

Early 2007 - that brings back memories. Took my first steps into cutting during that time. Had only been a collector before then.

I missed this post the first time around. I first met Tony at Quartzite Jan 2011. Great guy. Friend to all. He invited me to share dinner the first time we met.
So Tony, what gym do you work out at? The Rock & Trailer Gym! Some day I'd like to go through the piles & find some goodies. Lynn

I just ran across this. Cool story for someone who came along years, decades actually, later. I have always wondered how people end up in the business of selling tons of rock. Quite an adventure and life change for sure. 👍👍

Ha, so that's how it happened! Great thread bump, glad I saw this. How much do you have left, catmandewe? LOL It has evolved to about 600 tons right now and more equipment then I know what to do with. The original $1 pile is now 2 piles and there are several $3 sections also. I have a shop in town where we refurbish old equipment, so it keeps me busy. RTH lings can use the camper if they want also. Working on getting a second camper out there for visitors. Tony

I thought this was supposed to be a business! Don't you have to sell the stuff? You can't just "gotta catch 'em all" and hog it! 😉 finally slabbed up some of the seam agate you sold me. Very excited to begin planning! Glad you stumbled upon that first load.
