Agh! I just had to take pictures just in case something bad happens in the next week (like me dropping it or something )! The complete batch with cabs and slag will be posted in about 6 days, but... this particular piece has me jumping up and down. I took it out of the Lot-O tonight after 3 days in 500. It is so shiny that I don't even know if it can get better, but it's going back in for 1000 and then polish. 3 days each. I did this piece as an experiment to see if the Lot-O really could handle polishing any size rock that could fit through the lid. It does! This is mahogany obsidian and hopefully these two pictures will show the amazing layers that popped out during tumbling! I was quite surprised ;D. I will post the full batch sometime next week with the before pics! Thanks for sharing my excitement!!! ~Krystee

That is one GREAT looking piece!!! However, did I not read somewhere in here that you can sometimes over-polish obsidian so that it becomes dull again? I certainly hate to see that happen considering how good it looks now.

What a gorgeous piece! The pattern is fantastic and you really know how to put a high gloss on the obsidian!

Oh Krystee, please don't polish it again. It is stunning as it is and I don't think you can improve on perfection. That is one special stone.

Thanks everyone! I am really glad I decided to tumble it whole rather than slice it up. The layers that revealed themselves is such a treasure!
I already put it into 1000 last night (before reading some of your comments), it looks just as good today though! I probably wont see any difference in it at all unless I'm looking through a 10x loupe. I'll decide the day after tomorrow if I should pull it rather than move it to polish. I'm eager to post the whole batch, the cabs and slag are looking good too.
Ty again! ~Krystee

That is amazing.
Maybe going dull is what happened to my obsidian, especially around the edges, maybe?
