Well, I'm a month older than Scott (so 3 months younger than Karen). I don't remember a thing about it until I was quite a few years older. I have been to Dealey Plaza a couple of times and tried to picture the events. I have a hard time believing the single bullet theory.
Looking back I always think that if Kennedy and company had not played the Cuban Missile Crisis the way they did, I might not have been born. It got resolved the day before I was born.

I understand that. When the Cuban Missile Crisis occurred I thought missiles were going to come down the street seeking out targets. And I remember when I heard that if South Vietnam fell to the commies we were next I wondered where our border with Vietnam was. Lee

I was in an aircrew debriefing room in headquarters at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas. They went to a high alert status and locked us in for a few hours. We were all excited and scared. Excited because it broke the boredom, scared because we thought we were going to war. We didn't know why we were on alert until later.
Yep, I'm older'n dirt.

I was in 3rd grade......School was let out early,no school for a few days... I remember some of the teachers crying,it was a quite walk home from school,no traffic. Got home Mom was crying,I couldn't figure out why, because they didn't know him. I'm not a fan of the Kennedys, but to kill someone for no reason, was not right!

Ed, I don't remember. It was a (Catholic) parochial school. They were really behind JFK, with him being Catholic and all, so it was pretty catastrophic. It's quite possible, I'll have to ask my sister (she's two years lder then me) if she remembers. Wow Jean- Must of been totally catastrophic! Most likely they sent you home or to Mass ? I'll be real interested Thanks Ed Ed, I just spoke with my sister. She was eight years old, in third grade (at the same school) when it happened. She remembers that it was on a Friday, around 10:15 in the morning, and the entire school was at morning recess. They had loudspeakers outside where we all were playing, and they announced that the president had been shot. She said that everybody was crying, and we all went back inside to our classrooms. She doesn't remember if we were sent home after that, or finished the day. She also said that we did not have school on Monday or Tuesday, and remembers staying home and watching the funeral procession with the horse-drawn caisson. I remember some of this, but she remembers it like it was yesterday. They probably did have a mass that the entire school attended the following week.

Mike, do you really think his murder was random and without reason? Scott are you doubting it was something other than random & senseless? Ed Ed, I am not sure I understand your query. I have no doubt it was something other than random and senseless (without reason is how I put it). I think you meant to ask "do you doubt it was random and senseless?" Nobody kills the president of the United States of America in a random act of violence. Careful planning and motivation is required. Even in 1963. To say otherwise is silly. Ten thousand people in the area and the random death is Kennedy? He was the target. Plenty of non moving targets to shoot at. But no, the president was in motion (meaning a difficult target) and still he was the victim. He was targeted. No rational mind can think otherwise. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I cannot speak of the motivation. Logic just makes it clear it was present. I cannot say who might have ordered and/or paid for the hit. But a hit it was. To speak of it as random means it could just as easily been a kid sitting on the sidelines waving a flag, or the busdriver 90 minutes earlier. Chaos did not bring John F Kennedy & Lee H. Oswald together 50 years ago today. Nope.

Ed; let me try this a different way.
I'll stipulate Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) was the lone shooter acting on his own accord with no outside influence. To say it's random means he woke up that morning and decided to go Columbine on Dallas that day. He could have chosen any building/bridge/grassy knoll to shoot from, once the site is chosen his next taxt is to choose a target. Once he locates a target he pulls the trigger. To say it's random is equal to saying LHO chose that building to shoot from and got lucky the president was going to be there at about the exact same time.
NO.
LHO thought to himself "I'm gonna kill the president" and with malice a forethought learned of the presidents motorcade schedule and gained access to sniper's nest in the book building. His military training kicked in and he took 1 or 2 or 3 shots (whatever!) and iced JFK. Sorry folks, that ain't random or without reason. Senseless? Perhaps. But not random or without reason.
