I was quite young but I remember thinking why are they burying the president, somebody needs to dig him up. Too young to understand the finality of death.

I understand that. When the Cuban Missile Crisis occurred I thought missiles were going to come down the street seeking out targets.

I was in 5th period PE class in the 8th grade when the coach told us the President had been assassinated and for us to get our closes on and go to 6th period class and wait for our bus to come and pick us up ! Thinking back now, there had to be some thought that a world war was about to begin. I got to see, then Senator Kennedy, at the LaGrange GA airport after he announced he was running for the nomination of the Democratic Party for president at Warm Springs, GA. Our 5th grade teacher arranged for a bus to take us to the airport at LaGrange. I will always remember that.

I was finishing up Russian at the Army Language School at Presidio of Monterey, CA. When it was announced, the post was put on alert to get ready to deploy if necessary. We were SOOOOOOO pissed at Dallas that many were ready to head that way to take matter into their own hands against those hicks (keep in mind that I'm a Texan). I was never a Democrat but JFK was one Dem that I liked and respected. Besides, it was the office of the Presidency that was also being attacked and that could never fly.

Sophomore in high school. I was also in PE at the time. Everyone wandering around outside pretty much in a daze and a lot of the girls were crying. The whole school was in shock and everyone in the classes came outside. We were trying to get it through our minds as to how something like that could happen.
I wandered around the monument and shooting area some years later and still could not get it through my mind as to how something like that could happen. It saddened me just being on that spot. Jim

I was 22 at the time. Just over a year since my first tour in the Navy, and enjoying civilian life.
I was sitting in a drive in restaurant with a giant coke and a burger when the news came over my truck radio. I ended up wearing the coke. The lady sitting in a car next to me with her kids started crying. Never forget that day.

I was six years old, first grade, at recess. They had us all come in and told us what had happened.

It's my earliest memory. I was 11 months old. I took my first steps, my mom burst into tears (I prolly thought it was me) and then she shrieked, I fell, memory ends.
I can describe the placement and type of b&w television and the placement of the scratchy old brown couch. Both were replaced soon afterwards. No new memories until kindergarten class with Miss Wasserburger. Try & have a five year old say that three times fast!

November 22, 1963 I was in 2nd grade Montebello Grade School Phoenix - Teacher -Mrs. Johnson (who's husband delivered me but that another story)
We must have just returned from lunch/recess We had intercom in these classrooms and announcement was made for the teachers to meet outside I remember sitting in the class & teacher returns visibly upset-- she mentions something about the President then we all went outside where the Principle announced the news we were then all sent home
very solemn weekend with the t.v. news

Ed, I don't remember. It was a (Catholic) parochial school. They were really behind JFK, with him being Catholic and all, so it was pretty catastrophic. It's quite possible, I'll have to ask my sister (she's two years lder then me) if she remembers.
