LarryS yelled at me for not getting any done so I have to prove him wrong! Here are some of them.
Crazy lace:
Purple grape opal from Rockman69:
Rock from Laguna Beach. It smells like oil when you cut it. Got it from Ira at the Searchers show. It's very hard too. I want more of this stuff.
California Rhodonite (I love this variety):
Chrysocolla with Quartz and other stuff floating in it:
Idocrase (Happy Camp Jade)- clearly not Jadeite - it's quite soft.
Lavic Moss (self hounded). It's a little darker than the picture in normal light, had to crank up the brightness a bit to show the pattern.
Sweet Montana from Christopher1234 (it's upside down, oops). I love how the little dendrites are on a particular layer within the clear.
Chrysocolla in Quartz:
Lavic Brekker (ribbon variety)(Self hounded):
Unknown pet wood from a show (I really like this one):
A chicklet. I mean, turquoise I hounded from the Royston mine trip last spring.
Dryhead from that nodule I posted awhile ago:
A plain 'ole rock with a nifty pattern that my friend found while hiking, so I cabbed it for him as a pocket rock:
Blue Ice (from China) from Orchids9 (who frequents at least the other board, maybe this one dunno):
Rhodochrosite I got in my very first impulse purchase. Does anybody know what the metallic matrix bits are made of? Turns the water black:
Tuxedo agate from the Gem Shop (they had a bucket at the powwow at Quartzsite last year - you had to dig through pretty carefully for good pieces). This tiny slabette was $7 but worth it I think!
Lapis
Australian Dendritic Opalite from Rockman69 (darn you Don(?)/Jim(?) for introducing me to him!!! He has way too many good rocks at good prices.)
Bird's Eye Rhyolite. The dark part is hard, the light part is REALLY soft. I couldn't even get the oval even! It didn't undercut though and the soft part took an ok polish.
Unknown agate (supposedly from Oregon and "not found anymore" accordging to the ebay description):
Fordite from Christopher (my first, and surprisingly normal to work with):
And last but not least, Rosetta Stone (see the debate at this thread: Rosetta debate)
Mine is the soft travertine-like variety Mel was talking about. But it takes a great shine.
Thanks for looking!
