I love your signature, that is what takes practice, for me that engraver just slides all over that sheet of copper. Looks awesome, great job. I have just the place for it on my wall. Thank you, you are so gracious, lol.

Hello again, Here is the new progress to the clock. I cut the base for the clock and I drilled the central window for the clock mechanism, as you see here: Then I overlapped the cabs and the copper face over that wood base. I cut the base slightly larger than the copper face. After sticking them together (using brass nails) I sanded the contour of the wooden base in order to flush the copper face. For this sanding opperation, I used this sanding machine: See the metal stripe on top of the machine? I used it to grip the machine into the vice... ... and then to carefully sand the edges as you see here: After this, I added the mechanism and the clock arms and now the clock is functional: It's functional, but not ready yet. I want to paint the clock's arms with a more contrasting color (deep green or such) and then to add the pendulum mechanism. Thank you for looking, Adrian

Looking good Adrian, I like your final choices of the cabs and i think a constrast color on the hands will really top this piece off. Once again you have created another beautiful work of art.

Just in progress of catching back up on RTH, and glad your post came up giving me the opportunity to see yet another of your fantastically versatile projects. Great to see you back at your bench creating for the joy of it........
Super process and showing your absolute devotion to precision,..... Love it!
Looking forward to how you going to finish this project. Will the pendulum be functional(affecting the time on the face) or rather for show only?

It's about "time" you posted something! LOL I check back here every morning and ,,,,,nothing! The pop corn is stale and the root beer is flat with no bubbles!LOL
Kidding aside Adrian,,,,I'm happy to see that you got some time to continue working on the clock again. It's coming out beautiful,,,,as I would expect from your amazing draftsmanship! I remember back to about 1955 at my youngest sisters High School graduation. The motto they chose for their class was written in HUGE letters,,,,,blue and gold letters,,,on the wall of the gymnasium,,,,,It read,,,, "Nothing is impossible to a willing heart"
You HAVE a willing heart!

Thank you very much Sampson, Kurt and Tom!
Kurt, the pendulum would have a completely separate mechanism (running on battery, the same as the clock mechanism itself). It's only for the show. In fact the pendulum mechanism is oscillating as I type, because I wanted to check if it's not related to a given oscillation period. So I stuck a plastic ruler to the original pendulum, just to change its initial characteristics (length and mass). It's working fine.
Tom, this is not the only project I'm working at; I have another one in progress (house related). This comes with a good side but also with a drawback: the good side is that you'll need more pop corn and root beer. The drawback is that you might not prepare them in advance, because working at more projects in the same time slows me down. Besides, the other project I am working at is weather dependent, an weather here is BEEPIN' S#!TTY, to use the most elegant words I think they fit to such a weather.

I love, love, love it! You are a Master Craftsman. I, too, check back often to see the progress. It is a beautiful project and will look very nice in your new home.
I have a couple of questions for you, if you do not mind, are your initials done with a dremel and how long did you have to practice to get it that precise? I lo v e the look.

Thank you, Tammy, you are too kind.
About my engraved signature, yes I was using a Dremel engraving tool for this. I did not practice for too long before, I just drew some curved lines and did sign for practice. It's pretty simple, not far from writing. I also was watching some movies about this technique and found a good advice - to leave un-engraved gaps at the intersection of the lines. These gaps help in the dynamic of the drawing. As you can see, I followed this advice and I'm also pleased with the result. You might also know that I drew the design on the copper plate, using a marker, before engraving it. So, to answer to your question, my practice time before doing this signature could have been anywhere between half an hour and an hour of engraving.

Hello again, I had some time to continue the work to the clock, so the pendulum is ready. I firstly cut cab from a pictural jasper to use for the pendulum: But then, I changed my mind because I plan to use the cab you see above as a framed picture. So I cut another cab, same shape, from a poppy jasper. I stuck it on the copper sheet support and thus the pendulum is ready: Here is the clock with the pendullum attached: And a picture with the back of the clock. The piece of wood I'm holding is provisory; I plan to replace it with a wooden piece which would frame both the clock and the pendulum. Thank you for looking, Adrian PS. You can see here the other creation I was working at, which kinda slowed down the progress of the clock: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/65610/brick-barbeque
