Went ahead and bit the bullet a couple of months ago and bought a new laptop that had Win8.1 installed. Spent two months working out the learning curve and trying to get it set up like I wanted it. I pretty much liked the 8.1 but figured, what the hell, might as well go ahead and get 10. Seems like every damn thing on there wants my location for one reason or another. Mostly advertising I would imagine. I opted out on just about everything and stuck with Firefox for my browser. It did not like that very much but it got over it.
I have been computing since they were an anchor with just floppies so I know jut enough about them to screw them up real bad. Because of that I have a bug or two to work out by trial and error. For some reason Firefox loads up with junk of some kind and slows the thing way down which I have checked into a little but am going to have to check harder to find a fix. I can shut it down, start it right back up and have it set to start with what I was working on and everything comes back fast but then in a little while it starts to slow down again.
I have pop-ups blocked because the advertising burns up my limited wifi but most pages do not finish loading and just keep grinding unless I click the stop button. I have not had a smooth computer since XP and it looks like I am going to die trying for another one. lol Jim

of course, none of us will forget the halcyon daze of 3.1 when you actually had know DOS commands to get anything done how many times do you reckon that you re-booted a slow machine mostly ?

I stayed with Atari for ten years after they went belly up.
I'm taking XP with me to the cemetery.

I'll have to admit I didn't get into to computing until Al Gore created the internet when was that? 1993? anyway that was the date around my first machine WIN 3.1 with 1.2 CPU & 4g of RAM ! (paid way too much for it at Sears ) and a lot of re-boots mostly because of that first purchase at Sears was so expensive for a top of line computer at the time I said never again and ever since then I've computed on the cheap sometimes not with the fastest connection but I try not to make Dell or Gates any richer because of me mostlŸ

Like Don, I don't really have any complaints about 10. It is fast and you can go everywhere from anywhere. My problem is with Firefox which I will not give up because they do not ask me where I am. Mostly
The touch screen on this new computer is the same height but wider than my old computer so I have the auto hide task bar on the left side (which took me several days to get set up the way I want it) and it works great (quick) there. It is possible to set up 10 just about any way you can think up. Jim

My sister downloaded 10 I tried to tell her to hold off until I came over but she’s impatient and I’m slomohs bro
anyway she had very few glitches that I've been able to help her with over the phone
I really want to set her up on Cortana being that she’s handicap I think that feature is going to really benefit her
mostly!
