Has anyone downloaded W10 yet? If you have downloaded it, have you noticed any problems or issues with it? We reserved copies of it on our W7 and W8.1 laptops, but have not received notifications on when or how to download it yet. mohs, I think I read in the shoutbox that you downloaded it? What do you think of it?

Jan, you may want to Google "Windows 10 Reviews" rather than going on what this crowd may have to say. just sayin'...
I am using Windows 7, had the option to get 8 on this new computer, but 8 scared me. Hell, 7 scared me! And I don't plan to rush out and download 10 - even though it is free. I HATE CHANGE, so I'll move to 10 when I HAVE to.
It's not like I do a lot of high end computer use. I surf the web and send emails. I don't need all this new fancy stuff and new computing abilities. Would have happy as a pig in mud to have been able to stay with XP or even 98!
IF using 8 I would probably move to 10 with less hesitation. I say that not knowing 8 other than what I have read.
Most reviews rate 10 well.

What about the new TV's now that listen to the noise in the room? Now that's scary!

A lot of privacy issues with the new 10. Not a very nice program if you prefer giving all your info to third parties and Microsoft to keep tabs on you. A few tips if you're computer savy to tighten it up somewhat. I'm a lot like captbob and sticking with 7 as long as possible.

I also upgraded my windows 7 desktop to 10. Nothing jumps out as bad so far; They are really pushing the new browser, Edge.
Anyone who doesn't understand the lack of privacy on the internet probably needs Ed Snowden to explain a few things to them.
Does anyone know of a free Cookie removal tool? Cannot understand why my Norton doesn't do that automatically of have I set things up incorrectly? Does Windows 10 offer this. The thing I hate most about the Internet is the gall that sites have to try and anticipate our "needs"

I am sticking with 7 for now. I never get the newest OS until I see the reviews over time. chassroc, I have used CCleaner for years and really like it. (The free version) I can delete cookies in Firefox, but CCleaner gets them and much more. www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Thanks for the tips about cookie removal...My desire is for a setting to prevent cookies from tracking in any and all cases, without having to remove them explicitly. I never want my every mouse click and every website to be tracked by anyone. I am capable of shopping myself and it never helps me or results in a sale when I shop for blinds and then ads pop up for blinds as I traverse the net.

The thing I hate most about the Internet is the gall that sites have to try and anticipate our "needs" Most browsers have a function you can use to clear cookies. Google chrome has it in their "tools" area. Most browsers can also be set not to accept cookies in the first place, don't know about Win 10, though. But some websites won't let you in unless you allow cookies. Toss up.
I'm like captbob, I also hate change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I am currently running an HP desktop on Win 7 (64 bit), have two laptops running XP. Also have an android tablet for middle of the night surfing. I'm sure there are oodles of improvements (in their minds) in Win 10, but I find that newer operating systems tend to not allow you to use older hardware (scanners, cameras, memory stick readers, printers, etc). If you can afford to go out and buy all new peripherals, then by all means you go right on ahead.
I did reserve a free copy of Win 10, will download it to an external hard drive, MAYBE install it at a later date. Will see.
Just received an email from HP, about upgrading to Win 10. Here's the link to it. Some good info here if you plan on taking the plunge. I'm happy with what I have, easier to live with that than upgrade, decide I don't like 10, and then have to undo it. Just my opinion. Jean

Well, I've backed up all files on an external hard drive, and am ready to take the plunge into Windows 10. I'll try it for a few days and see if it's worth the trouble.

changes I don’t care for in Win 10 especially with the new browser eDge good name though... mostly
Where’s the file, edit, view ect… toolbar ? Plus the back button doesn’t list a menu of previous threads visited!!
I’ve wrote Microsoft about those blunders. I’m sure the fix is in.
mostly
best thing so far is that the operating system boots faster

Only took about 2 hours to load. I was back online at 3:15. So far everything is working the same as Windows 7. May take a few days to figure everything out.

One thing I just learned about Windows 10. After the change over is complete, run Defrag. Windows 10 seemed to be running slow, so I ran Defrag & WOW ! What a difference. My computer hasn't been this fast since it was new out of the box.
