Holly molly, miss a few weeks and all heaven breaks loose in your neck of the woods.
On the rock clamping I would suggest that your spacer wood not extend past the center of the vice. If your wood is the same width as the rock the vice can not pivot which will take away from the biting force on the rock. If you split a one inch piece off of the two by four and stand it vertical at the far side of the vice it will be sufficient for holding a rock of that size.
Any triangle stone is difficult to clamp no matter what you do. If you practice on some stones that are more square you will have an easier time of it. hahaha yeah I know, the ones you want to cut first are not square or even close but sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Jim

woo hoo !!! AC How did they install the duct work inside with your drywall already up and painted? Is that unit for the entire building? Wondering because it's gonna have to run a lot to cool that garage area, but your shop ought to be pretty easy to cool. And don't forget, we also need pictures of your hubby's shop and classic cars! Didn't I read he was putting in a car lift? < color me GREEN! >

Those Montana's look awesome. Too bad that supply chain didn't work out in the long run. What ever happened to Wendy? Was wondering about her. snuffy

captbobThe duct work isn't very pretty but it works. My husband may put up a small wall on top of my room to block seeing the handler and he may paint the ducts to match the walls. The unit is for both parts. We have it set for 80 in the garage an my room was 82 earlier and it was 100 outside. I don't have a return (not sure that's the right word) in my room so it might not be getting as cool as it should. We are debating about putting one in. I don't want my rock dust and oil getting sucked into the garage. The AC guy said we could add it anytime and use a really good filter and it should be ok. I'll get pics of the cars soon.

Well that's actually pretty neat (almost said cool) looking duct work. Kinda industrial. Probably industrial chic in the rock shop.

Need stairs to the upper level to make it easy to store stuff up there. Was the ceiling in your shop reinforced to hold weight above it? That's way too much space for a guy to waste!

I'm getting used to the ducts the more I see it. When I walked in there after it was installed I said OMG! I knew the ducts were going to be there I just thought they were going to be a lot smaller. I just have a vent in my room like a bedroom. As for the ceiling being reinforced, I'm not sure. I'm sure whatever gets put up there won't be too heavy since it would be difficult to get it up there in the first place.

Just make sure there are no big block engines stored up there above your work station or that pretty new saw!

That Chevelle is SWEET. I had a 71 which his puts to shame! Love Chevelles. I had you figured for a Gran Torino. Or maybe it's just because of the movie about a crusty bastard with a heart of gold. No offense intended, by the way.

Saint Augustine. That's one of the better grasses to grow in Florida. Spent just shy of 4 grand resodding a few months ago. I'm kinda protective of it at the moment. It looks awesome! Although... I could grow rice out there at the moment. Closing on 15" of rain - TODAY. No putting here, don't do golf. Would rather spend the time at the gun range. ETA: oops... forgot what thread I was on here. Sorry about the thread drift.
