If dog footprints don't harm the structural integrity, I think it would be nice to have dog prints on that cement.

That's looking good. Why is the garage floor dirt? Are they going to fill it with concrete later, or are you going to have a dirt floor?

Jugglerguy The garage will have a concrete floor, I'm not sure why they don't pour it all in one day. Maybe too much work for one day or the inspector has to look at it again. Andrea

Today's update: They're here early to pound the dirt Then the giant rock tumbler showed up. Here is where we are at now. I wonder if they see me peeking out the blinds and taking pictures all day.

Who took the pictures, Google? I see that the logos on the red shirt were blurred out in one of the pics. Lynn

captbob no not done yet unfortunately. Today's update. They showed up this morning and cut the concrete. Now we wait. Nothing is going to happen for a while. I guess a sample of the concrete goes to a lab and they have to test it. It could take two weeks. Once it passes the test they will start framing.

There is no drain in the rock shop? Will they putting a drain in the main shop area. I think maybe in time you can talk your husband into flip flopping spaces.

Andrea, I like the way toiv0 is thinking, a lot of forethought in the post above. After all, it don't rain out there, *maybe* a little sun so one of those $500 freestanding carports would handle shade for the husband's cars. The smaller room will be a big plenty for him to store his craftsman 112-piece mechanics tool set and some car wax (that means you can store buckets of rough in there, too!).

toiv0 no there is no drain in the rock shop area. The main garage is sloped from back to front. I decided not to put a sink inside the shop since I can't wash anything down it anyway. I will have a shop sink behind the building with an extension from the drain going out into an area in the yard. That way I don't have to worry about clogging the pipes. I don't think my husband will agree to swapping sides, but I'll ask. Intheswamp when I talk to him about swapping sides I'll mention everything you said to persuade him. It might just work.....lol....NOT!! I was surprised though when he said to line my 25' back wall with shelving racks for my rocks. I told him that he just gave me the go ahead to get more rocks since my buckets fit on less than two racks. I'll take it. He also said I should put the tile saw in the corner and he will put up plexiglass on the walls in that area. I'm not too thrilled with that idea but I think I will have a case for a real slab saw that is enclosed. I'm also thinking about adding a covered patio on my end since it faces north and it can get up to 120 degrees in the summer. Thank God for air conditioning. Andrea

They have to test the concrete before moving on with the construction of a garage? It's a freakin' garage on the ground, not some 50 story office building that could collapse if built improperly! How is that slab any different from pouring a driveway? What state do you live in?

He said that all the different cities can be a pain. I'm in Arizona, not sure if the testing is because if the city or state. Hopefully, it won't take more than a week.
