I AM NOT MATERNAL !! As I Told Scott - animals good, people not so much. Had these been a bunch of liberal snowflake babies out in the gutter, I would have been pouring bleach on 'em! Guard lizard on duty - scares the hell out of the yard lizards

Guard lizard on duty - scares the hell out of the yard lizards Yeah, yeah, I get that. Animals are better than most people. I tend to agree with you there.
But not maternal? I'll bet your Chihuahuas Rottweiler would disagree with that. Look what you did for those little tadpoles/froglets/now frogs. More than their own mamas ever did for them! And their daddies? What a worthless bunch they are.... bunch of deadbeats.
You have even provided a guard lizard to protect them from the predatory lizards in your yard.
Now quit saying you are not maternal, geez...

Paternal - Fathers can care too! Girl "chihuahua". Ground was wet and dug up for sod, so she didn't want to lie in wet dirt. Pic taken through window from inside. Boy dog much larger. I built the pool for the dogs - that's Paternal

I just have to say..... THAT is a beautiful lizard. The rott is a cutie, too. Knowing that lizards can be a challenge to keep, I am very impressed. Paternal instincts, indeed.

Wait, wait, wait... I never said that dog daddies didn't care. I was talking about the loser frog daddies! They do nothing to help raise their progeny. captbob, we all know how much you care for your dogs, and your... big lizard. He is a beaut, but can't say I would ever have one of those. They take so much care! Good job, BTW. Snakes were so much easier to keep healthy, but I don't miss those, either.

But, I agree with Jean, you sure are a good mama for those tadpoles. So sweet....

Well, with the crescendo of frogs, if Bob can get an infestation of crickets he and his neighbors will think they're in the middle of the everglades...or at least Disneyland (dont feed the gators!)....dress his chihuahuas in little tutus and teach them some tricks and he could charge admission....

And still they come Guessing we are down to less than 50 tadpole / froglets now. No guess on their survival to lizard food ratio. Still chasing the lizards off as often as I can. But they are persistent.

SURVIVORS abound! Out looking around in the bushes around the tadpole habitat and saw itty bitty frogs all over the place. I see 5 in the picture below, and there were ones and twos all over the bushes. Guess some of them have made it past the lizard gauntlet - so far.

The lizards are smart...they're letting the frogs fatten up a little..... Did you remember to get a family portrait... ?

Oh I still have four. Yes, FOUR freakin' tadpoles. GO AWAY AND BE FROGS YOU STUPID TADPOLES !!!
Still feeding every freakin' day and cleaning the pan as required. The mosquitoes have found the water so I have to change it every couple days to dump the mosquito larvae out.
Must be millennial generation tadpoles. Don't want to leave home. If I see teeny weeny Bernie Sanders sign pop up anywhere near the pan... I'm getting the bleach out!
stoopid #&@*~ tadpoles
