100% tumble. BUT, I own everything to start making cabs (cabbing info video, flat lap, templates, lots of slabs). I just can't seem to get myself to actually start trying to make them. Each time I head to the basement I talk myself into another reason not to try. I'm having the same trouble with wire wrapping. I started one the other day, got halfway done and put it aside, having severe motivational problems and probably won't stick with it. Found some other things that I'm more interested though. Maybe your subconscious mind is telling you to send me that flat lap? I actually was getting ready to list the flat lap for sale here when all the "save RTH" auctions went up. I figured everyone would spend their free money and it gave me a little time to rethink my decision. I figured I should attempt to try and make ONE cab before giving up on it! This seems to be the story of my various hobbies. My wife will tell you she is my longest running (and best) hobby!

Between Cabbing and Tumbling I'm a cabber. But the last few years I've done much more slabbing than anything else. Got injured in 2012 and again in late 2013 and haven't done any cabbing and only a little faceting since then.

Another question is how did each of us first land here at RTH? was it a google search about tumbling, cabbing, wire wrapping, slabbing etc ... Chuck Sounds like a new poll. Go for it!

For now yes I'm primarily a slabber. Larry C.

I remember answering. It does sound familiar but I lose track over the years. I guess I was just thinking a poll like that would be valuable to show what is the biggest draw for getting new people to look at this forum. What is the largest demographic to the least. I would guess tumbling and cabbing would be tops. Chuck

Might be a good time to ask again.

I was thinking it would be good for the same reasons as Chuck. Good to know where people are coming from.

Exclusively a tumbler right now, but I hope to expand a bit down the road. Tumbling was an easy venture to get into - I didn't have to bring a particular skill set and the footprint for equipment isn't too bad...yet.

Also might add rock accumulator, at least that is what I was before I got any space or equipment for cutting and polishing rocks. These days I only use the vib tumbler to polish cabs/pendants/beads, so mostly a cabber I guess.

Chuck google search about buying a tumbler, was weighing the pros and cons between brands, most informative discussion was here on RTH so then I checked out the rock photos, and that was that.

I'm mainly a cabber and facetor but I occasionally tumble faceting materials to "window" them so color zoning, inclusions etc. are more visible. I also use both my Vibrasonic and magnetic tumblers for finishing Sterling castings and fabricated pieces.

I clicked on cabber, but then read your comments.
I'm midway between a cabber and facetter. I haven't quite moved from rocks to highly reflective / refractive index materials normally associated / typical of facet-cut stones.

My cabbing machine sits right by the tumbling machines, both going full bore some days...LOL As a tumbler, do you ever see a tumble come out the barrel that screams to be a cab and then cab it? All of em! Then some of the cabs are asking to be facetted!

I clicked cabber, but I use a vibe tumbler for finishing cabs that I shape on the wheels. I slab as well. Lynn

I'm mostly a facetor now, but if I get a machine again I have slabs singing out to be cabbed.

Primarily do cabbing, and try my hand at just about everything else.
