I'll post pics of my rock boxes when I get home this afternoon. My first 3 didn't fair so well. 3 LFRB's: 1 came in emptied into a mail sack, 1 some What in tact but half empty, the other was good. Conn said the rest were in pretty good shape but I taped the heck out of them!

Love the PO clerk that bagged your rocks. Losing the half box was a bummer, a lazy person who didn't care about your treasures. On the good side you had most of your rocks turn up and probably more weight than some small states.. File a claim for loss and buy your rocks baxk girl !!hehehehhe The real hero is the hubby taking care of all what his precious lady cherishes. Grin.. Good Man !!

Perhaps we gained a new rockhound postman? I'm guessing that postal workers on my end used to be on a chain gang. They seem to like breaking big rocks into little rocks. over and over and over ...

I line my boxes with tear resistant plastics and thin cardboard to help reduce the risk of the rocks tearing through. The Post Offices in some areas can be very picky about if there is too much tape on boxes. Smart advice, Had the thin carboard down but not tear proof plastic, They are heavy and get dropped a lot.
Water softener bags are a good source. I also save and use the plastic envelopes from shipping and even the plastic bags from from cereals is heavy rip-resistant plastic. Folding over the thin cardboard to pad sharp corners on rocks also helps.

I don't sell rocks. . or my children.. Well maybe the daughter.. hehehehe One way trip at my house. I get them , they're mine. I'm greedy and selfish Cliff. .

Thinking that some of my freight is handled through that office too. I get boxes that look like they're drop kicked into the truck.

I have to give Conn and the postal service a big KUDOS!! I might have collected all my wonderful new babies but at aproxly 46lbs a box they all worked a lot more than I getting them safely to an in my shop!! Conn may not rockhound but a few of you got to witness that he will take me, sit around for hours with out a complaint and let me pick up and bring home every pebble or rock I want (within reason). These are my last to make it:

Yes, I want to see what she found out at the mine I took her too as well. I was so busy digging I never got a chance to see what she had her in her bag except the few pieces I handed her.
