Wow! You all had a wonderful adventure! Thanks for sharing - especially the pictures. I may have been collecting rocks all of my life, but I really have not been looking in the right places. Utah is awesome and I don't think I picked up a single rock when I was there many years ago. Well get back there to Utah. and Nevada, and Oregon, and Wyoming etc. Ms Vera. Some of your RTH family would probably be glad to show you around like they did Mel. Wonderful family and a great resourse for many things. Throw the old man and the dog in the truck and just head out..Grin.

coloradocliff, I can't get many past the first stage to go into the Lot O. My fault though. I don't recharge as often as I should. Not getting away this weekend. My sister an I leave at 5am in the morning heading to William Holland for a week. Taking Mineralogy 101!! But when we get back I'll have 3wks Shop Time before Conn an I head to St. Martin for a week. Besides Utah, it's my favorite Rockhounding place. We're hiking the mountains this time and catching a ferry to the island of Saba. I've read some really interested Geo-studies about that little island.

I like the more natural shaped ones from a couple weeks in the rotary. Of course some of mine go back into the coarse rotary with new friends and some graduate to the vibe. Boy that lot o sure makes them shiny. William Holland ? Great... Sister time is great and glad you girls are sharing this time and knowledge. Be interesting to see what all you learn. Came a long ways from that lil ole creek wading missy. St Martins ? How cool is that? Will read on Saba so will understand what you are going to find. The shipping really expensive out of there? Glad that Conn is getting a break too. Hard to slow down and smell the roses. Happy Hunting and do well in school.

coloradocliff, With my tumbling it depends. My rocks that will be put into glass vases for display don't have to be perfectly rounded. I too like to keep its natural shape if possible. If I'm adding performs of course that changes. WH is a lapidary school in the mountains of GA. Very well known an amazing reviews from past students. I am taking 3 classes total this summer. I am excited about my sis getting to go!! We vacation in St Martin a lot. Gotta get Conn out of the country away from cell service for him to relax.
