I'll post pics of my rock boxes when I get home this afternoon. *ahem* Yeah, we did get pictures of BOXES... *cough* How about the rocks inside ................... ? harrumph... Guessing at this late point that Mel is going to slab the boxes. Cardboard probably wont take much of a polish though.

Yes, I want to see what she found out at the mine I took her too as well. I was so busy digging I never got a chance to see what she had her in her bag except the few pieces I handed her. I was so hoping you didn't think I was totally rude 😂 I was so excited about getting to explore new territory. Then I looked up 2 or so hours later and we both were lost in time and you were literally knee deep in your hole I KNEW WE WERE MEANT TO BE FRIENDS! Most of the box I posted earlier was found with you. Minus a few small malachites I kept in my special pocket. I'm looking to see if I posted the turquoise you gave me now.

Except for the largest one, these are all from the Baker Egg Mine. The Egg with a black line was dug by the Geode Kid himself and marked with the line to cut it on before he removed it from the matrix. It should be an eye popper.

I have explored up around the top there and it is for the most part very limited unless you dig the mine walls or ceiling itself. And I found some nice stuff off to the left of the tailings about a 1/3 way down. But the best stuff you pretty much have to dig for.

Save me the hole that Mel dug out. Should be deep and wide and all the way to bedrock.. Did she really melt her tools by digging so desperately for so long?

Anyone heard from Lynn lately. Been pretty quiet from his direction., Am sure he added 200 bucks to Mel's postage fees. He did have an out of state show in Colorado to top of all his efforts. Might be a while before some one that old regains his fire. hehehehe That'll bring him out of the wood work. C

I'm sorry I got that wrong. I really do try and retain all the knowledge I hear from you and the others 😂 you know I was thinking about you a couple of days ago. Wishing I would have made more time just to hang out and talk then POOF Epiphany hit... We do have telephones!!

Now how do I get these Precious small peridot out of this rock?? Acid? Dremel? What is the host rock made of? If a hard material a Dremel can be difficult. And acid can help if the host rock is a carbonate like calcite or dolomite.

So, are you wanting to live out west after this trip Mel ? Perhaps a cabin ?

I would start by grinding the cigarette on the cabbing wheels with a lot of water.
The rock looks like a granite so acid is out. The peridot looks too small to small to do much with other than to cab. The l crystals in the later pics looks more like small quartz crystals. You could slab behind them then shape a cab around them such as an oval leaving the crystals intact. That would look really nice.

Now how do I get these Precious small peridot out of this rock?? Acid? Dremel? Maybe I missed something, but why do you want to get them out of the host rock? What would you do with them then? NICE looking bunch of rocks you collected on your trip! Looks like lots of fun on your horizon. Indian Blanket? Did you take any pictures of the area you collected this?
