Just read: U.S. Average Temperature Plummets to 11 deg. Fwww.drroyspencer.com/2018/01/u-s-average-temperature-plummets-to-11-deg-f/This morning at 7 a.m. EST, the area average temperature across the contiguous 48 states was a frigid 11 deg. F. Over 85% of the nation is below freezing, and nearly 1/3 is below 0 deg. F. The forecast is for cold air to continue to flow down out of Canada into the central and eastern U.S. for most of the coming week. I like in the comments area someone posted: "And 2018 has just been declared the warmest year on record."

Did you take that picture? That’s really cute, for possums at least. Yep, I had to chase her out of the yard before I let the dogs out one morning. Then I grabbed the camera and got a couple shots before she left the neighbor's yard. Can't leave cat food outside or they become porch pets. I found that if I leave corn outside, I get porch pets too. This was last night. Closest we’ve gotten them yet. I’m going to have to smear the corn on the door tonight.

Wonder if they like peanut butter. The fat in it might do them some good.

Wonder if they like peanut butter. The fat in it might do them some good. They love it but ya have to put it out after the squirrels go to bed .

Squirrels need love too!
Glad i don't live anywhere that the animal food sources get covered with snow. I'd spend a fortune feeding them!

Not enough snow her yet to slow the critters down , the cold sure gets them hungry though . Going through over a hundred pounds of corn a week in the back yard .

*L* Shoot Bob, it don't snow hardly ever here and my bill for animal feed runs over $10 per day mainly because of the blackbuck that are pretty hot weather critters. Need to fuel them up with corn and pellets any time it turns cold. Freezing my arse off here. High today 22. Spending half my day busting ice on the water troughs so the antelope can drink. I'd like to punch Al Gore and his fuggin global warming in the nuts just for the fun of it....Mel

This is how cold it was here this morning... my car would start, but only after I turned off the defroster fan. The battery was so cold, and so close to not starting, that it reset the clock.
Now it's actually above zero F, (big warm up!)so no worries tonight. But we're supposed to get even colder weather at the end of the week, so maybe I'd better start looking into new batteries. Cause that's cheap and fun to do.

7 degrees is way too cold for Alabama. You folks don't have the gear for it. And you'll lose some of your fruit trees, won't you?

Still in the 20's here and the freaking dry cold and breezes have triggered the cedar pollen barrage, so now both the wife and I are down with "cedar fever", one of the great banes of Texas living. My, this is simply delightful!....Mel
