We should let this rest. To my eye, Glenn has some difficulty communicating. Perhaps high functioning Aspergers, or some such. I suspect he truly does not understand why people are upset. Changing his threads further annoys people - but I see this as honest but ineffective attempt to be responsive. Clueless, but sincere. In addition his posts are sometimes a bit incoherent. He also got a little over excited (or grandiose, or manic, or swept away in a vision) in some of the threads he wanted to start. Maybe he was sad or lonely, or just really wanted to connect. It is commendable that many tried to explain, to point out problems. Some lost patience sooner, or assumed bad intentions, and this did not help resolve things. But it is becoming clear that further explaining will just amount to piling on or unkindness. I realize there is some concern for "newbies being led astray", but I think it is best if we just view/value Glenn as quirky and diverse. He is not trying to cheat anyone. There is value in diversity. There is value in not continuing to argue when words don't work. Maybe you should carefully read my post!.........MrP

Years ago I worked with a young man who was extremely ‘confidant’. I decided to help him out as this was going to get in his way of a successful career. I talked with him, explaining the difference between confidence and arrogance. Instead of tuning me out, he listened. Here is a part of what we discussed:
Confidence- Knowing something because you have been taught by somebody who knows it, has experienced it, has made mistakes and learned from them, etc. Or, you have learned from your mistakes and experiences over time, admitting error when necessary and learning, researching and training, etc.
Arrogance: You just know it because you believe you are smarter and better and in some cases more educated than those who have spent the time and effort to learn and do it right.
The next day he came in and thanked me for taking the time to explain the difference to him.
He said, “Thank you for telling me the difference. I was beginning to think I was arrogant, but now I realize it is confidence!”
You just can’t help some people.................MrP

I took a file and cut a small groove in the bottom of each corner of the metal sides, for the bungee end to catch in, then criss crossed a couple of small bungees over the cap. Problem solved..........MrP

The price of solar keeps going down. Great for the solar market. What do you think the cost of electricity will be when enough people get solar? The electric company will still have to be there on the cloudy days when solar does not generate. Then you will get to pay$$$.........MrP

Well,,,,,,,some day when you have a mind to and you're not tumbling, growing aquatic plants, erecting tall buildings, doing metal work and cookin coral,,,,and you think of me,,,I'd appreciate some of your coral.I'll try to be as nice as possible and if you send me either a hunk I can cut or a slab you like I can make a pendant for your wife out of it.If you send a slab try to cut it about 1/4" thick so I have something to work with.

I disagree with that statement.
This is the pendent Connrock made for my wife. I made the matching earrings. The quality of the pendent is Top-Notch! She wears it often and gets many complements on it.
Thank You again for making it for her...........MrP

I was in there about 1:30 - 2:00 myself. Always walk out poorer. He does have a nice selection of materials in there. I have been going there for years and at one time I didn't think it would make it because his business was not growing. He stuck with it and it is a nice place to go. Every once in a while I wish it was a better shop, then I am some place and go into the shop in that area and realize how great I really have it. About 2 years ago the rock shop in Prescott, WI closed. What a loss. That shop was 75 miles away, but was open on Sundays so a nice trip on nice days.
Rock shops seem to be few and far between. It take a very dedicated person to get a shop up and keep it running. Which reminds me, we have some very good suppliers on this board that I hope stay around. I will use them if they have what I am looking for. Of course we have had the other kind on here but they disappear in short order
Sorry to get off topic.
Hope your trip is a great one!.....MrP
