WoW! I like them all, but the quartz is by far my favorite of the "other" part of the gold & black tigereye. Truly wonderful specimens.

I am not an engineer, or even much of a rockhound, so take this not as fact, but just a "maybe". In looking at the feed & clamp unit, it looks like it has the capacity to bind on the saw blade edge because there is only ONE solid shaft on the left side for the feed unit to move along? It may cause the binding on a relatively thin blade when it makes contact. It also looks like maybe? it could use some lube on the shaft and on the insides of the guides of the feed unit?
Again, just a "guess" to add to the other's professional opinions. Don't kick me out of the club just for being a "dummy"! ; > )

What a great batch of color and polish quality! I see you said that the effort started 10 years ago, but do you by chance remember the source of your gold and blue tiger-eye? Maybe you even know where one would buy some today?

bgast1,
You do not want the bottom of your bowl (part with the round cylinder of rubber) to touch the frame of the vibe. Mine is usually about an inch above the frame. Also, like Bikerrandy says, excessive water in the bowl will not let the rocks rotate from top to bottom. Start out the bowl with just enough moisture to cover the rocks. Before you add your grit, turn it upside down, and let the excess water drain out of the bowl. Remember, you can always add a squirt or two if it seems t be too dry. It is dang hard to take a "squirt" out though!

Well Amgill0415, I am sure there are other ways of making your rocks look wet other than polishing them with a tumbler/vibe. Just keep them in a glass jar full of water! Some folks just spray their rocks with a clear lacquer, but in my mind, there is nothing that can truly compare to a well polished stone from the tumbler or vibe. The water helps bring out the colors and patterns, but the polishing process will bring out colors and patterns that you have never dreamed of.
Now, that is my tcw, but that has been the case with all of my rock polishing adventures. By the way, WELCOME from Montana and Arizona!

Hi Roy,
Sorry for being such a darn rock dummy, but how does one know if he has either found or intentionally/accidentally dino coprolite? I am constantly amazed by the fact that it looks like some form of agate to me...the rock-dummy. That first slab is very cool. I'd love to try tumbling some small slabs of the dino-dung.

I agree with John on your finish...it is truly liquid! Very nice job. I'd love to gather up some flint sometime.

You have done a fine job with the lace and you have some really nice specimens there. How many weeks in the course tumbler to get rid of the blems (surface dimples, cracks, etc.)? From what I can see, there are flawless for the most part. That either means great patience on your part or you had really nice rough stock to start with. Care to share which it was? Either way, you have a great tumble there.

Thanks for taking us along. It was a great trip, and obviously, the collecting was good. I too love the obsidian. What a great find.

Very nice gems Chris. I should try to remember to skip over your fire agate posts, as I just keep thinkin' THAT is the stone that i wanted! Super job on all of them, but the first one is the best I think I have seen so far.
