Oh yea, the statute of limitations jasoninsd. That detail may limit the tales. Lots of fun to be had without going into the felonious zone but the 'fun' was usually had at someone else's misfortune. Had you ever heard of a book titled 'Steal This Book' ? Probably came out around 1969.

Sounds sell-able-
"As is, where is, bring wrecker " Patty
If it could be made to run it could be sold for 3 to 5 thousand. It is a logical route. The as is/where is works as well, just less money. It's yours for 1000

Can you believe I had a nightmare involving a tractor yesterday ? I can believe that - crawling from the wreckage like that would definitely give me nightmares ! Patty
Denise went over and took some close up photos of the steering system and the exhaust manifold. They both appear undamaged ! Those two items are probably not available any longer and render the whole thing junk. I hope to never change the engine(2 gallons) and hydraulic oil(8 gallons) that way again ! The 45 minute bath in hot oil pouring out on my privates wasn't pleasant either but it did motivate and lubricate the escape

Is there a thread on RTH titled "My craziest experiences" ? Bet there are some seriously crazy ones with this big bunch. First on the new list- How I survived rolling my tractor down the hill Patty
Willing to bet there is a long list of similar close calls Patty. And many that went way further south. Can you believe I had a nightmare involving a tractor yesterday ?

I was curious if you had retired ! Or just getting started lol. I've realized it takes WAY too long to heal nowadays (as I'm sure you can relate at the moment! ) to be standing toe-to-toe with someone...unless it REALLY requires it! LOL I've worked on allowing my fuse to be a LOT longer than it once was... Well done since anger is a dead end road. It is probably time to lengthen your fuse if you received your PHD in anger management Jason, did you force law enforcement to invent that course ? Is there a thread on RTH titled "My craziest experiences" ? Bet there are some seriously crazy ones with this big bunch.

"Oh...and I think we had the same type of lifestyle "back in the day"! " That comes as no surprise. I'm sure you were accomplished Jason. Ever notice how a wife will put a stop to that activity ? Negotiating kitchen passes ain't no fun ! I'm not joking in the least when I say I'm surprised I made it past thirty! LOL Yeah...I'll admit she's made me a better person...or more the case of she's made me WANT to be a better person. I'm still a work in progress. I was curious if you had retired ! Or just getting started lol.

South Dakota must have great water or good air. Jason's a special dude. World could use a bunch just like him. By the way I was sorting thru the glass arrowheads and thinking about getting the glass shop going in the new basement. Tons of unused space and new receptacles. Lots of new shelving. Really a cool space for the glass shop. Let me go down there and take a photo or two. Done We really only needed the basement to increase the first floor size. So it sits unused... I did have presence of mind to have the contractors build the store bought shelves and install 48" led lighting. and the electrician to install needed 50 and 60 amp receptacles. Needs tables/benches... The 1st spot was in a small dark dungeon. The first order of business will be casting the 6" x 2" x 11" bricks which would convert the large amount of 30" x 30" x 1/8" glass plates into sawable entities for most any application. Best done during cold season for keeping house heated ! What a great space for a studio/shop! Bet is stays cool down there in the summer. I'm kind of surprised Denise hasn't claimed already it for her studio. If Denise goes to the basement now and finds out how cool it is in these dog days she may do a takeover Robin. It's a bit of a hike due to the steep trail. That would discourage her. Get her kiln setup and she will be down there ! She has the talent to make the fine cabs and pendants. I hope I wrote down the kiln program settings for casting the glass. Others have tried casting bricks with the US glass brands Spectrum and Bullseye but are having fractures at cool down. The US stuff gave me the same problems. This China made glass casts with no fractures. Much user friendly but no longer available. Some of the old bricks were left outside in the weather subject to freeze and still have not had a single crack. I was hoping someone else would start casting. Others can do plates but they are boring compared to pot melt bricks. I doubt I used 2% of the glass. I hauled about 2 tons of the China made glass in about 20 colors and it's sitting there waiting.

By 10am this morning after 3.5 days of continuous and/or jolting pain I finally got a brake. Euphoric is the best description. It has been a heck of a way to go on a diet ! Looking frail and about 10 years older. No worries, will get back to working order as soon as able. Please continue your prayers Ashley as I am improving. Another week or two. Thank you. James, glad you're starting to feel better. Selfie on the way soon? Thanks Rick. I may wait on the selfie assuming I look like I feel. I did made it down to the basement yesterday. It only took 10 minutes ! Oh what the heck:

This goes double for you if you are old and just had a 6000 lb tractor roll over on you, lol. Jim, I know your legs don't look like this woman's, but look - She is hugging a pillow! She must be trying not to sneeze, too!! jasoninsd must be sending humorized posts to her too ! She has prepared herself well(rather sensuously at that). ashley - Advice for Jason from an old school hell-raiser back in the day when a typical weekend was a 12 beer DUI and knuckle busting fight and a whole night in jail to rest up for the next weekend. Back in the day, all looks good: And the results - an over-the-hill gang:

jamesp are you going to get that chunk of iron back on his/her wheels for one last ride on the horse that bucked you off before positioning for yard art or passing on to a collector? The newer ones have a lot wider stance. Elizabeth humors my desire for a tractor, but we also agree that with one acre the nice full sized unit doesn't make sense. One of those things that will only happen if I find one at less than half the normal sales price, I can be a cheap SOB. Lee, I spent 1000's of hours on that tractor clearing land, terracing/plowing, making roads, grading for buildings/greenhouses, etc. Most of that work was just that - work ! About 5 years ago I had made a decision that I never cared to get on a tractor again. Now only by necessity. The thrill wore off so to speak. Get you a tractor. You will love it. It will take decades before you get burned out on it. It is very rewarding to work with the ground. A nice garden alone justifies its purchase. Those small Kubota diesels are fine machines with great resale. You can buy it used and probably sell it for more than you paid. I may just list that tractor on Facebook Market Place and sell it as it sits for a cheap price. Paid $3900 and got easily $40,000 worth of service from it. I doubt the ball bearing type screw steering system survived the impact meaning that it is probably a parts tractor at this point. Doubt parts are available. It was the last David Brown made in 1972. Fitted with the common 3 cylinder Perkins diesel. I only changed the clutch and water pump after extreme hard duty. The David Brown company also made the DB series Aston Martins ! Yep, you should treat yourself to a nice diesel unit. People will hire you too if that is of interest.

Having my first near painfree morning Robin. The prayers are paying off and I really appreciate them. Jason does have a way with torture. No worries, his wife can make him pay. You know she has his number. Bet she keeps a noose on him. One of those spike collars with the spikes turned inward is one suggestion LOL! He has a way, doesn't he? Glad you were quick witted enough to position yourself before being completely crushed. This could have ended so much worse. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I hope to never have to use those same witts again quartzilla. Betcha that will be the last time I take any chances on a tractor. Thanks for the well wishes. Oughta be back in the groove in a few weeks. Gotta get in shape for some more rock collecting trips(great motivation to heal !) Funny thing, I had joined a club to workout to get into shape for a Texas trip in Sept/Oct. Got the first workout in the day before the accident which probably helped my awareness and sharpness. With all this attention I'll be nursed back to health in no time. Hell yea I am sucking it up ! Thanks again.

Hope you're feeling somewhat better, Jim. I know it takes a good long while for ribs to knit. Still sending healing prayers up for you. Just remember to have that pillow handy and in place before you read any of Jason's posts! Having my first near painfree morning Robin. The prayers are paying off and I really appreciate them. Something to watch - Rescue of the Golden Nugget You can't find these anymore Dave. They are in such demand. Makes sense to rescue it. Floridians had bought most of them in the SE US. They do so well in sand country.

So glad you made it with only broken ribs, not that those are a walk in the park or anything! I hope you heal quickly as nd without too much frustration. Just thankful to be alive Lucy. The pain and entrapment is nothing compared to the elation of having survived. Thanks for you thoughts of concern. I'll be back !!

Seen that show before Randy. Those guys get to have too much fun but also flirt with too much danger. I sure hope you will have full recoveries and will get back to your routine. More and more of us older RTH members are facing rebuilds and medical issues. Such an 'incarceration' may be one of the most humbling experiences we can have. Especially for a fellow that has miles of rock treasures to hunt down. No big deal for the average couch potato, a near death sentence for lovers of activity. I was hoping to see some more field trip photos of the septic fields ! It's a good thing you stock piled so many specimens. Perfect. That made the day. Thanks Randy. If I were there I'd be on site with the sun and leaving with the sun. Just the early and late sun is worth the trip. Of all the things this world has to offer collecting beautiful rocks at a location like that in your photos would be top choice. Your truck looks stout and able to carry a heavy load of treasures. Perfect setup. You are so fortunate to have those resources at your disposal. I sure helps to be half mountain goat out there. Photos don't show steepness. That site looks super steep. Hopefully you have healed and are ready to get back out in the field. Any idea when you will be back to collecting again ? I had an opportunity to go hog hunting with some true mountain boys for several wintertime hunts when in my 40's. A day hunt covering 20 to 25 miles across the choppy +/-2500 el. Cohutta Wilderness. Within 20 minutes we were in t-shirts in sub-zero temps. An older fellow in his mid 60's would often go with this bunch. That man made us look real bad. A lifetime spent in those steep hills had turned him into a mountain goat with giant lungs. That man's sitting pulse rate was still in the 40's in his early 80's. I can't imagine being 4000 to 5000 feet higher in elevation and dealing with that lower oxygen.

Glad to hear you’re OK jamesp. Something like that probably would have killed a lesser man. You’re pretty handy with metal. Could you fabricate a ROPS compartment for the tractor? Someone was looking out for me Brent. This is an old worn out heavy British tractor. At 6000 pounds it would have crushed any man. Being slender and limber was a Godsend. A big fellow would have not been so fortunate. Am looking forward to a newer one this time with power steering/brakes/clutch. And protective cage ! It is heartbreaking to lose ole David Brown. It was like a family member.

My first knitting project will be your straight jacket Jason. Once you put it on I hope to knit it to you just kidding . You make me laugh and it sure hurts lol. Ha, I can't even lift my right arm without moaning in pain. I bet your wife has to put up with more than she wants to.
