Just don't open up the barrel and breath in the first air that comes out of it. I'm very interested to see this tumbled. The first piece with the tan top-coat is a more recent color. Woofer, all the paint is this year. The colors look like Owhyee colors. I need to know the best way to start Tumbling. Square one But I will be carefull and I will post My pics of the finished product. It might take a while to get to it But it will get done.

My guess would be its glass. Used for bead blasting. Just a guess. Nothing more.

I use clear nail polish, "hard as nails" The top coat style. It works good for me on tight fractures. I never tried it on large gaps. The other is "hot stuff" the red label. It even says " for lapitory use" on the label.

I haven't read thru all the posting so this may have already be said. The acetone might not be getting down into the cracks. Remove rock from acetone a scrap off loose glue with exacto knife, Then continue soaking. Repeat that cycle until it comes loose.

Ok, I was moving around pictures in that area and noticed a dusting of dark spider webs. That could be the pencil lead lifting off. But, and there is always a BUT. The graphite returned to the check areas after I removed the drawing from the wall. A couple round areas about as big as a quarter are thin or void of graphite. It's getting crazier.

Yes, it does. I need to look what's on the other side of the wall. The place is old and the walls are solid plaster, no drywall.

Sounds like more of a humidity issue to me. Was near an air vent? The humidity is very low in the winter time and we were going thru a cold spell.

I asked a RF Guru and my work if the RF could possibly have any effect on a drawing, he said ONLY if the drawing media is ferrite based. RF would not have any effect on graphite. Thanks, that is a good answer. but now I want to know what happened. I need to try and repeat it and take pictures of the drawing before and after. I moved the hanger from that location but I now here it should be.

A lot of people tried to help this guy. I wonder what was said that was so offensive that he deleted his account? I thought there were some pretty good ideas that we came up with. I don't think his leaving was personal, at all.

Hello All, Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I think what I will do is use strictly one type of stone - I have a bag of rainbow obsidian and try the various polishing times and speeds. personally I would have thought that the times in the instruction maula would be a bit more accurate, but I will try longer times with one stone type or one stone hardness only. We shall See!!!! Hopefully I am not going to offend you here but I probably will, How about you put the obsidian off for a while. Obsidian can be very difficult to get right. I suggest that you get yourself a bag of agate and have a go at that. It is much easier to get a good result on and will give you a nice baseline to start off with. Cheers Scott About Scott's reply. That was just fine Be honest and always tell the truth. If people get mad about that.... Well then there is nothing you can do. Nice job Ok, I'm deaf and in ASL, you don't sugar coat anything. You cant misunderstand the answer, maybe the sugar coating part.

The big reason I want to know, if it is RF why does it show in that area? Also, can RF be bad for your health? Some people know why i am interested In the answer.

Well, it wasn't the angle of vision, I don't think because one of the people I showed put it under a light a many angles and he said, I'm not sure. The killer is out of all the people I ask, 1/2 said RF and the others said I don't know. This site has lots of smart people and I figured some might know.
Thank you

I sketched a picture using pencils, Soft to hard lead. I framed it and put it up on the wall. After a couple days the drawing started to disappear and the only part remaining was the places that was drawn using the harder lead. So, I took the picture down after 2days on the floor, the drawing started to reappear. could RF cause that to happen? It sounds crazy but why did that happen?

I would make sure your adding enough borax. I use it in every stage but the first. I think that's important, for a good shine.

All you oldtimers (in terms of experience, not age!) should get a 'duh' chuckle out of this. I have a Lortone 33B and a QT66. There are worlds of difference in slurry production and grit breakdown, as well as agressivity of tumble. The big'un works much, much more aggressively on the very rough agate from this area. Took me a couple loads to realize the QT66 will mow through that heavily pitted stuff at least a couple times faster than the tiny one. I've been using parts of different folks' techniques gleaned from here, and I'm really liking the technique of adding 3-4 tbsp of rough grit every three days or so. In the QT66. The baby one just sort of mopes along using this technique. It doesn't break down grit (46/70) nearly as fast. Especially if the barrel is even slightly overfilled. All this makes complete sense from a newtonian physics point of view (mass and acceleration and force, oh my!) although it sometimes takes a bit for the lightbulb to come on. So a word to the noobs (like me!) out there: don't just follow recipes. Get to know your tumblers. Make detailed notes on material, grit amounts, times, slurry consistency (touch it and feel it, don't just look at it) and results. In conjunction with all the expert knowledge here, after just a few loads you'll see pretty amazing progress in results. Thanks to you all for sharing your wealth of experience on makin' purty stuff outta ugly stuff. Argh But, the bottom line is ... It sounds like your doing a good job. Taking notes and finding out what works best for you. Good job

Very nice catch and good pics. When I catch fish, the fight is the best. Not the eating. Being a touranment bass fisherman, If they kept every fish they caught during practice And touranment day there would be no fish left in the lake. Fishing is number one and rocks are #2.

Just a story.no pics I went to the flint ridge a year ago. A lady was parked down the hill from the rest of the show. Had two tables full of rock art. I could not see her license plate on her car. So I ask, where is was from just so I might be able to indentify some of the rocks. As I ask her where she is from... She said MARS.... And I said the plant? She said YES. So I wasn't able to tell what type of rocks they were. If you go there and meet a lady with dark hair with glasses, ask her if she was at The flint ridge show a year ago, earth time. If she says YES. Run as fast as you can. (I had to leave before I started crying, because I was biting my lip so hard,so I wouldn't laugh.) .
