I liked the estwing 22oz and abused it too. But lost in in a tragic "left the tailgate down" incident that really made a friend here very angry with me. Thanks to someone else like you, I found a 14 oz Estwing rockpick back in the 70's on an overpass while riding my bike to work. I still have it. I rode my bike a lot & found lots of tools at intersections while waiting for lights. Yeah, some had bad road rash, but some are in great condition. I found a huge Crescent wrench on the side of a dam. It had to have "fallen off a truck". Lynn

Someone's been busy! I like the plume jasper the best. Photo #8 shows where your drill bit walked & left a trail. To avoid that, put a small piece of masking tape where you want to drill & mark the spot with a fine Sharpie. It'll minimize the bit walking. Lynn

The HXTAL I use is odorless. I heat up the stone under a 100 watt light bulb, apply HXTAL & then keep heating for a couple of hours. What are you going to use? Lynn

Do you have pictures of the beach? I'd love to see the area you hunt. Here's the view from one of the lower plateaus of the cliff you have to climb up and down for access. Just to the right are the stone "steps" etched into the rock face. The angle doesn't really do the height justice. shannon Happy Birthday & thank you for posting this shot & the agate pics too. Pescadero Beach (and a bit more south) was where I hounded the same kind of agates for years when I lived in Cupertino. Your post gave me a little moment at the beach. Thanks. Lynn

This is from the ad. The others are nice, but not as nice and one hit wonders. I can get 2 probably without stabilizing. Maybe this will be my first at stabilizing-- gotta do it eventually.... I wouldn't cab it without stabilizing. That's a pretty fractured example of Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper. Try Hxtal or other high quality epoxy. If not, it'll give you grief while cabbing. Polishing will make the fractures more obvious if not stabilized. Lynn

I'm glad you didn't tell us you shot your baby. Maybe you're too young to get the reference. That was fun. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. So does this place have a name? Lynn

It may be a picture jasper, but it looks to have a low silica content. More like sandstone. That means don't expect it to take a good polish. Lynn

I'm going to say something very un-American. I hate pancakes. Waffles are only a little better because they are crispier. Went to a popular breakfast place on the SF peninsula with Bro & Sis & I got a burger. Now that's breakfast! Lynn

I walked Land's End last Nov & found a small piece of red orbicular jasper on the beach just down the hill from the labrynth. The orbs are very small with no white, just shades of red. I'll add a photo when I get the chance. Lynn

Are you using a filter on those photos? It looks like watercolor filter on Photoshop. It looks like compression artifacts. Lynn

Since I live in Cedar City & have offered to guide a few crazy RTHers to a couple of local hounding sites, keep me informed of your schedule. My schedule is pretty open, so I can accommodate everyone else's schedule. Lynn

Wow high quality and quantity! Very nice 👍. What show are you headed to on Mother's Day? Maybe we can look you up. Vic Grand Junction, Colorado Rock Club's annual show on Mother's day weekend. It'll be my first time. Lynn

zarguy. Are those magnetic clasps? Yep. I've tried lots of magnetic clasps & settled on these very strong ones. They are 6mm x 6mm with a 2mm hole that goes halfway through, then continues as a 1mm hole. I'm using them differently than they are designed to be used, but it works for me. Lynn

I wouldn't say this is my favorite tool, just something I've wanted & finally built: What is it, you ask? It's a jig for gluing magnets on the end of waxed cotton cords. The spring holds the cord in the hole while the glue is curing. Before I made it, the ends would pop out from the tension on the cord. I'd have to use weights to hold the cord down. With 10 - 20 cords being glued at a time it was a juggling act. Now I can do it much faster & am able to keep the cords centered in the magnet. No more lopsided magnets. Lynn
