The arrowhead situation also requires some timing, a clearing and rain. Without rain your goose is cooked. Often they clear, and then deep grade before the rain hits destroying the site. Artifacts always in the top 12 inches of soil, deep grade just covers them up. Typical arrowhead trip around Atlanta, they are not always show stopper arrowheads like you find in flint/chert territory. www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157658341807963Well then start planning π

I have always wanted to go to WH- for years. I was talking to DH about it. He checked it out on line and brought up us going there on vacation next year. I am just wondering- how the heck do you know who is a good instructor? There are so many! I would love to take some silver smithing classes. I am self taught, but have a lot to learn. I need some professional instruction. I'm taking a Silversmithing Class July 16th. I will have a different instructor than Ann ( fantastic5). When I get back at least you'll have opinions and examples on 2.

I'll keep my eye out for recent construction. Atlanta is always being dug up. You guys like to hunt arrowheads ? That is one thing we do have. YES!!!! I've really been wanting to find authentic ones for my sons.

fantastic5Ann we laughed our butts off several times over that voice text. It was hilarious!! The Brunch Choice was awesome! Easy to get to, great coffee&biscuits, free covered parking to look at the rocks and most of all FABULOUS COMPANY!! Everything worked out great. We'll be coming back during the week of July 14th-23rd. This time I'm making more time to visit You and Jim ( jamesp)!

South Texas, on the Rio Grande. Lake is shared with Mexico, has been a hotbed for drug smuggling. Prime agate collecting. Ummm think if I'm going to risk getting Taken or Killed while rockhounding might want to hit Brazil instead π jamesp and captbob, I can always get away for a Cool *ss Rockhounding Trip! I'll wear my cap, baggy hunting clothes and combat boots. They'll just think I'm a short Mexican man they speaks very broken Spanish! I do tan rather well.

jamespI was happy that they were salted. After a week of heavy hiking, digging, wading through swift cold creeks to NOT find any colorful agates, jaspers, pet wood etc... it was a very welcomed change π The country side is most beautiful!! I have read about the Hogg Mine and want to go. At this time I have 3 more classes scheduled. An I'm quite excited about them and trying to perfect some of the aspects of the trade ( Silversmithing and two cabbing classes ). Oh and getting to stop in and visit friends like you an Ann along the way!

Hey Mel Tom and his family run Rose Creek mine. He actually mines the native sapphire, garnett and ruby material and it's unsearched!!# of course he salts the expensive buckets. I love going there, the lovely Susan has s set of sapphire earrings cut from native stones we found at Rose Creek mine! Bill, We met Tom and family. We started out with a bucket from their actual mine. Found some great things. My sister found a 6ct Citrine that was breathtaking! Then our instructor, for a happy, bought all of us an enhanced bucket to share. Of course THAT WAS FUN! We were there for several hours, cut up, laughed and had the best time!! I have a good feeling that we'll frequent the place a lot on our trips back to WH. We want to go Big Time and buy the $300 Big Boy Barrel next time we go π
