Hello, I'm just an old guy with a few pails of 'pretty' rocks that I've been storing for many years. Somehow my first 'real' tumbler got dragged over to my reloading bench and relegated to polishing brass for my rifles and handguns. As a kid I had a few 'toy' tumblers, birthday gifts and such but without the right directions to make things shiny I moved on. My family owned a gravel operation in North Dakota and little downpours revealed some pails of interesting stones. Several of those pails are still in my garage so now that I'm an antique and looking for few things to keep me busy, tumbling has come into the picture. I'm just here to read and learn a few things, I probably won't have much to offer as I'm on the bottom level of knowledge at this point. Thanks for providing this forum, I look forward to the knowledge I might gain from everyone's experience. Zebra Welcome to the Forum from Southern CA. I hope you don't mind, but I moved your post into its own thread in the "introduction" area from where you originally posted. It would have simply gotten lost in the existing thread you added to, and more people will see it here. Enjoy your stay! ETA: Oh yeah, we have a very active tumbling forum, so ask away if you have any questions.

Does anyone know if the Slab'asaurus is still available? I've tried contacting them through their Facebook page a couple of weeks ago and still have gotten no response. I can't help with availability question, but I'd advise to keep trying the FB page. He did post that he was having some type of issues with it last month that kept him offline. Maybe things still aren't up to speed. It appears that the owner is around, as he posted on his personal FB page a few hours ago. Maybe give messaging there a shot? www.facebook.com/NicholasC.Braun?comment_id=Y29tbWVudDo0ODgyMTQwMDAxODY3NDM2XzEzNTAxMjIzMjI0ODY4Mjg%3D

One of our members here, @currentlyrockhoundin , did a review of the device on his YouTube channel, and he mentioned that the owner reached out to him to do a review of it. As such, maybe the member has an inside track on how to get ahold of the Slabasauras owner, Nick Braun, in a manner other than FB. Good luck.

I cut up a chunk of that green jasper you find on the Yellowstone from time to time. This one has the red flecks inside like the Indian stuff. Anyone else ever seen this? I remember finding the chunk. It was either Glendive or more likely Fallon. Pics?

Well, "amazing" seems to be the word of the day. Not that I get out a lot, but I've never seen that before. Amazing!

Contest was locked on the first. Voting was open early on the 2nd. Technically should have been locked then at end of day on the 8th. Instead it was the 9th. This is a “fun” contest being run by a single volunteer who presumably has a busy life just like the rest of us. Any number of life events could be happening on the exact day that the contest is supposed to end. Being a few hours or one day off is completely reasonable in my opinion given that this is someone volunteering their personal time to put these contest threads together. Hassling the people that are willing to do this in good faith, essentially over minor human imperfections, only discourages everyone from wanting to volunteer for anything and casts a shadow over the contest thread that it’s done in. I find this ridiculous. If anyone has real concerns that some timeline isn’t being met down to the minute, how about a simple benefit of the doubt message asking how the volunteer is doing and whether they’ll have time to lock the thread on a particular date, rather than hassling them after the fact about how they aren’t doing this volunteer job perfectly. khara, IMHO, you've won the internet for the day. Well said, and thanks for the support.
