I am wondering what the best process or way to polish thulite. It is green and pink and sort of a soft stone. But any input on how to get it to shine would be helpful

Ps. If you come and heard about it from here. Please let me know. I would like to put a face with a name. And also thank Lee 2 for his kindness in helping me advertise.

Most prices are on the low side but some are market value but I'm always negotiable. When I purchase stones I look for high grade material for spheres. There is too much to list. This collection started 35 years ago but has old estates added to it. I only sell once a year to the rock clubs first then the public. When I get a ock I slab some slabs, make a sphere and tumble the rest. I hope to see you all.

I'm going to have a friend show me how to do the pictures. I am not tech savvy. And I miss quoted one of those machines. It should say 177 not 197

I run seven machines. The first two 50 -60 grit machines run at 197 rpm. The third machine is 600 grit runs at just under 100 rpm and two polishin machines run at 197 and 220 rpms And the last big machine runs at 156 rpm. When I started making balls I had 25 rpm motors and made 2 inchers that took a long time to turn down preforms. The 197 rpm motors turn a three to four inch preform down from ten minutes to two days depending what I'm grinding down. If no one caught it the seventh machine is a adjustable pulley machine I'm tinkering with to diversify speeds on one machine.

Just to add a little more info on hot dog blades. Each one I use in a residential, commercial application. typically porcelain tile but granite marble or ceremic tile application. These blades only wear out at about the point I set over ten thousand square feet. That doesn't mean ten thousand cuts but a lot of cuts. When they are no longer are adequate for the job saw I use them at home cutting rocks and corners off of performs. When I said I wear the matrix of diamonds down to the sintered core I mean to the steel part of the blade. Unlike a continuous rim blade they can burn you if you put to much finger pressure on the bottom 3/4 inch of the blade. And they will take your fingernail away very rapidly as any diamond blade would. This is over 20 years of personal tile experience. Best advice on using them for rocks is don't go to fast. Take your time. Un like a lapidary saw that takes ten minutes you can make a cut in a couple of minutes. The slower you go the better the cut and less heat and the blade will cut for a long time.

Because Rock God was already taken. Just kidding. It accurately represents what I do mostly as a lapidarian.

Those hot dog blades are worth there weight in gold. I have used about fifteen of them. When there cashed from a tile project they go to the lapidary saw and will work until I completely wear off the diamonds.

One of these days I'll do a sphere out of that beautiful willow. Orbs are awesome.

What a great idea. It brings me back to the days I did sheetmetal work using a 1/4 inch 90degree roller and a Pittsburg machine. Using the old leather handle tinners hammer to fold and lock the pieces together. Nice work. The satisfaction one gets from doing it themselves.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. At the Hillsboro OR fair grounds. I had a great time out there today. Lots of slabs, cabs, and rough. There is a silent auction. And a bunch of great people out there.

I've got an old frantom and it's dialed to .003 in 18 inches and it cuts perfect slabs. If you think about only going 9 or 10 onches into the blade on a cut that's .002 that should be darn near perfect
