here is a picture of the rough that I started out with, it’s a Moroccan agate. I tried to make a leaf shape design, because in southwest VA / northeast TN when you think of autumn you think of leaves. Here are a couple of photos of inspiration located at the school where my wife and I take our daughter walking in the evenings. and voila! The finished product! I decided to submit my entry earlier in the month this time so I didn’t chicken out like I did on the inside/outside curves contest…. BUT IN MY DEFENSE I knew there was no way I stood a chance against that tactical tweeker blade. Then the guy pulled it and put something even better up! That’s just ridiculous! 🤣🤣🤣 oh… I also put photos of my “fall” submission in there too, because, why knot?! 😁 I’m dying 😂🤣😂🤣 I’m the guy who did the tactical tweeker blade 🤣 Also… beautiful cab. Glad to have you aboard.

I’m dying 😂🤣😂🤣 I’m the guy who did the tactical tweeker blade 🤣 Also… beautiful cab. Glad to have you aboard. I actually ordered a slab of mushroom jasper just for that contest! I had it all planned out, I made a wide mushroom cap out of the slab with a concave bottom. After the contest I had planned to groove the girdle like I did on that Gary green cab and wrap both of them together to make a full mushroom pendant. I got it cabbed, took my pictures, came to the forum to submit it and as I was scrolling down to the bottom of the thread to post it, I passed your tactical tweeker blade and 😲 HOOOOLLLY COW! I just started cracking up, that thing was so good I didn’t even bother submitting mine, I just threw it in a box and logged off. well done, sir! 😁

Hey Justin Justin , I would love to see your mushroom cab, why don't you post it over on the "Creating Cabochon" thread.
I've come to realize with the contest that the best way to approach it is as a challenge to yourself.
If the next guy(or gal) outdoes ya, so be it, but it's a challenge just the same. So don't let the other entries shy you away - it keeps it interesting with different entries, IMHO.
Patty..... watching for the mushroom cab thread.

I'd like to see it too. I try to treat these as a personal challenge too, as in what do I want to do that I haven't done yet, or at least haven't done "that way". When I finally get a day to get busy and cut the small mountain of !!! slabs that get set aside from the saw maybe I'll do them more justice.

Tommy The "Wildflowers Rhyolite" is superb and the cab is so perfectly autumn! Please show us some more of these slabs... Thanks pebblesky I wish I could show the original slabs but they are all cut up into preforms now. I sold a lot of cabs from the material and this is what I have left. Of course when I was cutting up the slabs I bought I had every intention of cabbing them all Tommy I like that stuff, definitely a different variation on Leopardskin and really nice. Thanks Lee. This is my drawer of Leopardskin I was getting from the same guy at the same time. I don't think they look anything alike other than both being obicular rhyolite.

Wow...You should definitely show us every drawer one day... Lets just say that if you guys ever hear that I died suddenly, you will want to immediately start contacting my wife about how to get your hands on that cabinet

I know I'm a repeat offender, prone to hijacking threads, but lets save that one for another thread
