Now they tell me I have A-Fib - An irregular, often rapid heart rate that commonly causes poor blood flow. The heart's upper chambers (atria) beat out of coordination with the lower chambers (ventricles). This condition may have no symptoms, but when symptoms do appear they include palpitations, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Treatments include drugs, electrical shock (cardioversion), and minimally invasive surgery (ablation). Sorry to hear Dave. I've had fits of AFIB off and on over the last 20 years and it's a rather unenjoyable experience. My heart will beat super fast and irregular and them miss a few beats and then pick up where it let off. It's hard to sleep, hard to relax, I get fatigued and light headed when it's going on. My fits usually last 12-36 hours. Back off of caffeine, stress, drinking, and I've found that sleeping anywhere but your left side is helpful as well. It's an electrical disruption and your heart is basically misfiring. So all those things can lead to an imbalance of what I think are the right balance of electrolytes. I was told you can take a cold shower or put your head into an ice bath and sometimes it "shocks" your system and will sometimes reset everything for you. Trying to sleep is the worst, I always wonder if I'll wakeup lol

Well anyway- do what they tell you is best & stay strong Dave
And keep in mind next week they'll likely change their mind.

1dave, Re: AFIB, I've had 2 cardioversions, which only provided temporary relief. My cardio team finally decided a pacemker would be the best solution. Simple overnight surgery, a nice little metallic lump in my upper chest, and the beat goes on...at least for a while. But I've already probably exceeded my "use-by" date so I'm thankful for every new day anyhow. Hope you're feeling better and find a happy solution.

Somehow I doubt this is something new. After my 2012 Aorta valve replacement I've had "congestive heart failure." This just seems like more of the same. It does explain feeling fine and suddenly worn out or dizzy or out of balance . . . I don't have time for this. I've got books to get out! (I'm adding to them)

Me, too ! Please get better 1dave . Jean! You've been missed! I'm still praying for you, too, my friend. Thank you, Robin. I have just not found the time to keep up here. For that I apologize. I've not been following through on what I need to do, either. You know, the neurologist? (my bad). But every day gets better, and today was an exceptional day. I felt extra fine today. Bob, however, did not feel well today, stomach problems, among other things. We have the same PC doctor, and he is trying to get me all caught up on things that have fallen between the cracks for too long. I recently had a bone density scan done, and, like Bob, looks Iike I have some osteoporosis going on, too. Then I had a mammogram, next they plan on hooking me up with a new GI doctor, from whom I'll get a you-know-what. There's a first time for everything, right? I have several doctors, and groups of doctors that want to have online access to me. I know it's a good thing, but still a pain in the ass. More work for me to do now. But I suppose it beats the alternative, and gives me something to complain about, as well. The temp dropped a few more degrees, time to go inside where it is warmer. Last month, we had all that rain, the atmospheric rivers. We are getting some light rain now, but nothing like those rivers before. However, it has turned cold, the weather guessers are calling for the snow elevation level to plummet. We are still sitting out on the patio, but not for long. Bob just told me it is 52 degrees out here. Everything is still all piled on us right now, but getting better. We got our truck back from the mechanic just before Christmas, it had to be smogged by Jan 31, did that the other day, paid the registration renewal on Friday. Now I have to get it insured by mid Feb. I hate it when your insurance company drops you, not because of too many points, but because you live in CA! That sucks! We had the same insurance company for our homeowners insurance, now I have to come up with. another one by April 23, 2023. The plumber had been playing some kind of game with us about taking his payment from us. I don't know how many checks I ended up stopping payment on and writing another. At that point in time my balance was fluctuating by over $6k! But things are getting back to normal. whatever If that is. If I hadn't made friends with a gal at the bank, I would have been paying beaucoup fees, but she made everything go away. She even produced a cashier's check through her bank and did not charge me a cent. It pays to have friends in high places. Hoping that little phase of my life is done, never to be repeated. It was crazy! The unplanned major plumbing overhaul is still ongoing. But getting closer to being done. Sorry for the long rant, this has been my life since early December. You all take care. Jean
