My best friend and I had a good laugh about this yesterday.
Kathy just purchased a rock tumbler after collecting rocks for many years.
She lives on the edge of a small town. Everyone there has to know everyone’s business.
Her mail goes to a large PO box. The PO is only open 4 hours per day.
Kathy does not have internet or anything related to the internet. She can get You Tube videos on her phone.
Pays for almost everything with cash or check.
She bought a Chicago Electric tumbler at Harbor Freight. Also got a starter pack of grit/polish. There is no other place within several hours to purchase tumbling items.
I had a Kingsley North catalog mailed to her.
I sent her a SFRB filled with grits, polishes and tumbling media. The box was stuffed and pretty heavy for size. It was not bulging.
The box arrived during a bad storm. She went to pick it up yesterday. It was not in her PO box. Strange.
She went to the window and asked. The person there said it was in a holding box of packages. They searched through the box to find it.
Kathy asked why it was not in her PO box. The person said they wanted to know who was picking it up. Very strange. No one else should have a key to Kathy’s PO box.
The person is standing behind the counter, holding Kathy’s package. She asked for the package. The person asks what it is. Kathy replies how should she know. The person says she should know if she ordered something.
Kathy often receives surprise packages from friends. Rarely orders anything via mail.
The person is now getting suspicious. She tells Kathy the package could be dangerous.
By now my friend is more than a little upset. She had taken two of her dogs to the vet and they are in her car waiting.
Kathy asks the person if she is going to give her the package. The person says they don’t know.
Kathy replied, “Just give me my D#$& package”.
The person asks her what it is. Kathy again replies she does not know.
Kathy is a pretty private person for the most part. She will speak out about some things, but not so much about her private life.
Finally, after over 15 minutes of back and forth, the person gives her the package. It has not been opened. They also told Kathy her PO box will be monitored for unusual packages.
I have never heard of anything so silly.
So, beware. SIC, AO and Cerium Oxide are suspicious materials. So are ceramic and plastic tumbling media.
Wonder how the next box I send her will be received. This one will contain more grit and some rocks/fossils to tumble.
Has anyone had something like this happen to them?
