I live literally on the edge of New Mexico and Texas, so I have a lot of rock hounding options. Only gone to New Mexico to rockhound. Usually Deming since it is only 100 miles away. Based on what I thought, Texas had kind of bland agates. I was completely wrong! You should try New Mexico sometime! There's a lot of coll stuff over here as well!

Actually, if you Google some of the West Texas agate on ranches, unfortunately currently closed to Rock hounding, you’ll see Texas has some amazing agates including Moss, Plum etc. I’ve heard New Mexico has good rock. Maybe someday…

Here’s another chunk (3 total) of that Texas moss agate that we found early last year. This is by far one of my favorite rocks. It’s been tumbling about 6 months in course and is nearly ready to move on.

One of my favorite pet wood finds lately. We’ve had a lot of storms this winter that have uncovered some nice rocks in the creeks around our parks. This one is so interesting to me.

That pet wood is excellent! Very dramatic! I love rock hounding after storms or heavy rain. It's like a whole new World out there.

The rock world looks so much better. We’ll see amazing rocks we’d walked past many times before. So whenever it rains, if possible Belle (‘The Kid’, my 10 year old step daughter) and I hit our favorite spots.

A month ago or so I threw a bunch of rocks that we had found in the rebel 17 , mainly to clean off the outer coating of calcite, lime or whatever it is so we could see if there was anything good underneath. I don’t know if these were two similar rocks or one that broke, but after four or five weeks of course tumbling, I was happily surprised to pull these out today. They look like tiger iron almost, but they are not magnetic. They are rather heavy and solid feeling. I’m switching them over to a 3 pound tumbler now with 60/90 SiC for a few weeks, then I’ll throw them in the vibe to finish.

Found this interesting one walking the dog along a dry creek near my neighborhood. I’ll get it into the tumbler in the next day or so. It really interests me and if you look close, it has tiny agate banding ‘pools’.

Nice Finds! Look forward to seeing how they polish up! The first one I am definitely going to tumble. The second one (the mighty holy rock), I think I’ll send to iamchris in the box I’m working on for him. Let him go at it with his soul, I mean saw(lol) maybe slab the thing lengthwise or however he sees fit.
