Ah shoot, I'm going to have to get my QT12 going to the gym to prepare for this one! I'll see if I can do you proud, velodromed ! lol…The mighty holey rock should be cut before trying to tumble. If it’s like the outside all the way through, it won’t tumble well. I’m hoping to get your box out by next weekend bud.

If this is like the similar looking rocks I have found here it is probably some flinty matrix crammed to the gills with teeny tiny shells

The kid and I found this interesting whatchamacallit earlier while looking for fossils. It’s fairly heavy and solid feeling despite all the tiny holes. If this is like the similar looking rocks I have found here it is probably some flinty matrix crammed to the gills with teeny tiny shells That would be cool if it’s a fossil rock. But honestly I don’t think it is. I have found a lot of fossil rocks here in Texas and this one seems different. I know there’s a good amount of chalcedony in there because I can see lines of it on the surface. I was thinking Coral at first, but it’s not really like the coral Ive found around here. Whatever it is I think it’ll be interesting. Or hope it’ll be interesting lol.

Interesting… I don’t think this is wood. Could it be bone? My wife rather think so. It’s been tumbled three times course in the rebel 17 so far. Think I’ll be more careful with it now, and move it over to a 3 pound barrel. Originally it had a smaller chunk kind of sticking out that wouldn’t have worked for tumbling, so I took it off with a hammer and chisel. I need to find that part and start working on it. This is one very intriguing Rock.

Oh my… I found this beauty walking around the property at my kids gymnastics studio tonight. The whole thing is translucent with those red squiggles throughout. I’ll be tumbling it whole and can’t wait to see how it unveils.

Wow, that's a nice Rio Grande agate. Always good to check out landscape rocks even in the Hill Country, as many of the rock quarries they come from are in the Uvalde Gravels of the Rio Grande Valley. The other common gravel sources are around La Grange and contain some nice fossils and pet wood, even palm.

My 12 year old step daughter will not pass by rocks regardless of our schedule. Her specialty is spotting pet wood and over the years has found a lot. That and butterfly’s.

Even though it’s a bit on the large size, I think I’ll run it in a 3lb barrel. The rebel 17 can be rough. I really want a qt66 someday. That seems a real good size for medium sized rock.

This one’s a bit different from the moss agates we normally find around here. The chalcedony base is fairly clear and it seems solid. I’m really hoping it tumbles well.
